This time the cleaners will tackle Tarbert House, a Georgian manor on the banks of the River Shannon in the West of Ireland.
Home to the Leslie family for 300 years, the current custodian is 83 year old widow, Ursula Leslie.
While the main rooms on the ground floor retain their original splendour, these days the upper two floors, where once Charlotte Bronte, Lord Kitchener and Winston Churchill all stayed, are little more than a dumping ground.

@@mikecochrane1437 That is absolutely true. I have friends who live in Ireland in a large house they inherited, and it is a labour of love. In the 20 years I have been going there they have got about half-way through bringing it back to its splendour. @@1980sneonelectrik fair comment, but don't forget that even if she isn't loaded with cash she still has a tidy sum in real estate, and other assets...that property and its contents has to be worth a few million at least. Plus, social hierarchy - being upper class, it isn't unusual for people with titles to look down on others in a snobbish way, purely because they're a lord/lady.

Unbelievable how much Glen and Karen did struggle and how much they could change the house! And its a shame that the daughter just appeared at the end when all the work was done. Why she was'nt helping with cleaning out her own childhood house? It seemed to me as if they somehow abused the two helpers.
@RevantuZ
@RevantuZ Жыл бұрын
I think it's possibly because the point of the show is the two cleaners doing it to help them with their own obsession with cleanliness. It would defeat the purpose if they had too much help. That being said, I think it's sad that the daughter didn't help more to stop the house from getting into that state in the first place. But we don't know a thing about these peoples' private lives, I'm sure they have their reasons.

During a so called "declutter" after my beloved grandma's death, we got rid of many things without deep thinking and I regretted it. Fortunately, I kept the set of 96pc crystal drinking glasses! But last month I wanted to host a big dinner for my birthday with many guests and didn't have enough plates. Once again I remembered grandma's plates that ended up in the bin. Anything new I looked up was either too expensive or too modern. Luckily, I found a set of beautifully decorated vintage plates that matches the rest. And in good price as well. Yet, I could have saved this if I still had those we throwed away back then.

Glen and Karen make an amazing team. Sitting in my parents' house that they've owened for 40+ years, I look around and see clutter everywhere. But one cannot just throw away a lifetime of memories. There are so many episodes that I can't find like Vinny (Vincent Ghee) going to the house that he cleaned, can't find that anywhere, or the episode where Tuesday and her mother (the OCD mother and daughter) go to clean someone's home can't find that either but they are always advertised in the introduction of the show. Quite said, senior person living in such hoarding, letting go must..we can’t take any belongings in our coffins, when we gone others will throw it away..why not do it yourself. Painful to see such beautiful house in that condition..extend families need to help her

True! My neighbours died, they had no children and because they were awful people they lost all contact to their extended family. I'm cleaning out their basement now and I chuck a lot as there are 30 year old papers and junk stuffed to the ceiling and not much of value or to recycle too find in there.

how should an 84 year old person be able to cope with such a big place? never ever!

That house is too big for that little old lady by herself, even if she does the tours, she can't keep it up long. If the house and the costs cost her so much stress, she really needs to think about letting family take over, or selling and getting a small little place, so she can have peace and calm for the golden years of her life. I hope she does downsize in future. No one needs the financial stress a house like this creates. PS. Seeing those antique books like that hurts my heart.

If Ursula is going to be adamant about throwing stuff away, then the cleaners are wasting their time even being there. It's a huge house for one person, and needs constant upkeep to keep it in good condition.

4:53, nice room ngl. Also yknow, opening a window and throwing the trash out of the house rather than carrying it down the stairs would have saved LOADS of time. Then all you've gotta do is put it in the skip right next to where you threw it out the window. Use this method to clear my second bedroom.

As someone in a culture that values keeping family close and living together with grandparents and caring for them, it's baffling how they could just leave her alone like that in such a huge house.

My friend was about to move in with her grandma for a while after she graduated college. I was supposed to help her move in. The room she was supposed to live in was full of bugs, filth and spiderweb. We started to move in her stuff, but then I just said "stop. This is a damn health hazard, you are NOT moving in here." She stayed at her friends place before she found her own place.
