I cry the day my foster kittens go to their new homes. But it gets easier by day 2. Getting updated pictures makes it all worth it. However on a few occasions I’ve taken in a sick kitten and had to work hard to help it live and I can’t part with the kitty unless it’s going to someone I know who has already bonded with the kitten. The bond I develop with a sick cat is so incredibly strong.

Like, he knows your really there to help him, but he has to hiss, just to make a point, but his eyes are saying: “if you love me and help me I will hand in my feral card”. Unfortunately, we were raised to think that animals weren’t important as individuals . They were livestock, cattle herders, pests, or mousers. I had to learn the hard way that they are just as important as us. I’ve had my cat for over 12 years now, and she’s my best buddy.

Smoosh sounds like a cat I rescued in high school. I called my cat "Squish". I was driving out in the country during summer vacation, and I saw a cat laying by the side of the road, at first, I thought it was dead, but it was still breathing. I took it to the nearest Emergency Vet Hospital. "Squish" had been hit by a car and her leg was broken. She had no collar or chip, so I decided to adopt her. She was my best friend for 10 years. Smoosh seems like he's cut from the same cloth.

You are such a good person to take care of feral kitties and dogs. This world needs more people to care and help these animals get off the streets, spay/neuter them, and move them into loving homes. We took in three older feral kittens (about 9 months old now) and they went from hissing and growling to seeking us out and purring when we pet them. It is so worth it. It changes lives. It changes neighborhoods. Keep up the fabulous work!

I've had some that just wanted love and couldn't wait to be indoor cats and some that sliced me up like freddy krueger on the daily and I couldn't even hold them in a blanket without murderous rage of an epic proportion. Who knew tiny kitties could be so scary? lol Even with all the techniques in the world, some ferals shall remain feral. And I couldn't agree more, in the wise words of Bob Barker, "remember to spay and neuter your pets" (and ferals when possible)! :)

Made the spectacularly bad decision to open the trap and keep her in the bathroom for a couple nights. @@AvangionQ You live in a happier place if that's the case! Over here the poisons are strictly monitored (easy to lose one's licence if a pet or even stray gets poisoned) - the pet/stray poisoning cases seem to be exclusively due to intentional harm.

The video said he was poisoned. There was nothing about being deliberately poisoned. I know feral cats will eat whatever food, that is available. That includes rodents, and if the food source like rodents were poisoned, then the cat will be poisoned that way.

It's so amazing that these rescuers are so close and so caring with their babies and then give them up to a good home. It's so admirable. It would be so hard to give them up. But I could do it. We have 4 cats of our own. I live them to death. I would love to save as many cats as possible and giving them up to a good home just leaves room for more. It's something that is soooooo needed.
