Its a very real issue. I've seen videos about homeless women having to use socks as sanitary towels, the problem is they don't have a lot or have access to places where they can be cleaned - its very dangerous. Look up period poverty. In the UK a few years ago, the UK government voted that sanitary products were luxury items, but men's facial razors were not (for tax purposes). Thankfully in Scotland, sanitary products are available for free in schools, shelters and other places for those who can't afford them.

Pads & tampons aren't too expensive.. I live in Columbus, Ohio, & you can get an off-brand box of tampons for less than $3, & a package of pads also for less than $3.. So, in 1 month, you might spend $6,$7(so it might be like $80 a year) which is still pretty dang cheap.. So this lady is just acting crazy & gross.. LoL

You could just get a menstrual cup... I spent $30 in January to get one. Don’t have to buy tampons every month now and it lasts for years. You can find ones for cheap as well. June has some for $6, I think. Although, then she would probably get an infection or something because she wouldn’t clean it properly to save money... Also, some people are scared of them, just like some people are scared of tampons. Just depends on the person. I think it’s great that there are so many options nowadays (between reusable disks, cups, and pads along with anything else I may have missed) so we can make changes to create less waste while it’s also a cheaper alternative.

Plus the fibers are not consistent. Cotton socks are one thing, but it looks like there is also polyester socks and acrylic socks in the mix, which would be super irritating and not at all absorbent.
