Refreshing to see women that can wear a dress, or shorts and not see them covered in tattoos. Great video sir! Thank you

I grew up in that era from a truck driving family. The one thing many of those women did was smoke. - unfortunately. Killed my mom ( and dad ) ,lung cancer. But I agree with your comment otherwise

1977, I was stranded at a Truck Stop off I-75 and I-70 near Dayton Ohio in a Snow storm while hauling Mail for Sodrel, I was down to drinking Coffee in the Restaurant when, one day a Waitress brought food to me, I told her I ordered nothing, she simply told me "I know, I ordered it for you." Never forgot that act of kindness by this lovely Lady, I was just 26 yrs old, she was 20, never saw her again.

I remember driving otr in the late 70s and 80s the waitresses in the truck stops. I don’t know about anyone else but I tended to have my places that I liked to stop. Wether a truck stop or diner you got to know the girls and you formed somewhat of a friendship. Kinda the same when working regional and you got to know the tollbooth operators both girls and girls. I think you would have had to actually experience those situations to really understand it. Thirty years later I still remember and appreciate those waitresses. Girls, thanks for the memories.

@@petersack5074 yeah things were different back then. I’m mostly retired now except for driving a dump truck for a guy part time in the summer. I loved trucking back then and I’m thankful for all those great memories. Thanks for the reply and have a good day. Happy trails.

That first pic of the Day & Ross rig that women handing him the paperwork is Gail . I worked at D&R at the same time she did. She is retired like myself. I run into her from time to time in the grocery store. At one time and maybe still is Gail was the person who worked the longest at D&R.

At the end of the 80's there was still a spot down in Delaware off of RT1, like the one @03.25. Tiny, 6 pumps, all counters seats,, and lots of waitress all in the 70's. But you could see they were Hotties in their day. I remember walking in, and the cash register girl apologizing for the prize rise on the menu, and CASH ONLY. Burgers 55 cents, Cheese Burgers 60 cent. Milk Shakes 75 cents! Coffee 12 cents all you wanted. I ate half a cow that day! lol!

O-H-I-O Porter greetings.🇺🇸 What a nice selection of old rigs & people. 🤩 Most of these were taken before my time, but I did go to some truck stops with my brother & dad that still were run by nice people of that generation. I even took a date to our local truck stop because I had enjoyed the food. I love the REO @ 2:50. I’m a REO truck lover anyway, but it’s unusual to see a REO with the integrated sleeper. I’m not sure if they were aftermarket, for I’ve always been told that REO didn’t offer that from the factory, especially in the 1950s. Someone know anything different on that one? 🧐 Love those old trucks! 🥰😎✌️

You don't realize how lucky you are to say you had been to a "Truck Stop". Their aren't any left now days, their all "Travel Plazas" or some other bullshit name. No, real truck stops have gone by the way of the Doe Doe. When they realized how much more money there was with the tourists they dropped us like a hot rock. At a REAL truck stop you could get most anything to fix your truck, even back in the early 90's l had to go to 3 different places to find a marker light in Boise ID. No, the good ol' days are gone. Very sad.

Notice how there were truckers helping disabled motorists. Many of the slobs today would drive right by. Probably busy texting. I am sure there are a few that have been trained well by their dads. No offense to them.

1:49 ? hmmm ....let's see. Appears to be Bette Midler, .......in the ' middle ' of the road....By comparison, that steering wheel there, MUST BE 4 FOOT HIGH......on that International cabover.......bigger than todays' 24 inch bud wheels......
@dabigkahunacatfish2992
@dabigkahunacatfish2992 9 ай бұрын
Well youngster, you need to remember that big steering wheel is there because those trucks were equipped with "steering by ARMSTRONG". Yep, NO power steering, Hell my last truck was a 1973 KW (COE) and no P.S., you had to work at turning that sucker. The trick was start rolling and that helped (a little).

Yes, i know all about that, TOO. Had a 74, kw 100 coe, 350 cummins, jake, 13 RTO fuller. Hauled hot asphalt, had to prop my leg against the doghouse, and door to make the corner, leaving refinery. Thanks, for having a very good truck ! (i meant the front drive tires / wheels......) @@dabigkahunacatfish2992
