Julien is 23, Melissa is 23, Sha'Carri is 24, Gabby is 27, and Brown is 29. All the female medalist are under 30. Meanwhile Shericka is 30, Elaine is 32 and Shelly -Ann is 37. All the Jamaicans are 30+. Running at this level takes a huge toll on the body, once you hit 30 even though you still have a lot of speed you'll have some serious wear and tear which can result injury. Unfortunately I think this is exactly what happened to the Jamaicans, I know these are superwomen but I think Jamaica needed a younger squad too seriously compete in the Olympics

@66fredo992 ай бұрын
More interesting? how so? Their vets have almost aged out plus they're injured. As they say, Father Time is undefeated. The young female whelps are not nearly as talented and thus haven't been received and fully supported IMO because the bar and the expectations are so high. Now, because of the pull outs by Shericka and SAFP they're debating whether to enter the women's 4x100 event at all.

We're not as big as America so there will be times when there's a gap because people aren't ready yet. Don't worry though there are more great sprinters, they are just either still in juniors or just coming out of juniors like Tia, Levell and Oblique so they aren't ready for a stage like the Olympics yet. Before I begin, I give all props to Gabby Thomas for winning the 200m race. However, I think the organizers need to look at the women's 200m race and make it more fair to the athletes. Julien Alfred (there may have been others) ran the 100m qualifiers and semis and the finals, then she ran the qualifiers for the 200m and semis without getting a rest. In fact, Julien ran six days straight before the 200m finals. She was exhausted. And it showed. Gabby Thomas only ran the 200m so she was obviously fresh. Not only that, Julien, as the second fastest 200m qualifier, should have been assigned one of the better lanes. She was assigned lane 8. She couldn't have gotten a worse lane than that. So, for the next Olympics, the organisers should look into that (giving a rest to the ladies because they did schedule for the men).

So many disrespect comments. This was well deserved by Gabby, and great job by Alfred to get a silver in her less favourable race. It would have been great if Shericka was there, but a country the calibre or Jamaica really dropped the ball. There should have been 2 if not 3 Jamaicans running in the finals like the US had. The athletes are not machines, injuries happen but I think it’s crazy that there was not 1 single Jamaican was running. Maybe their golden generation is over and they didn’t have enough young talent to step up but whatever the reason Gabby and America did their job and showed up in force to run.
