The two poles you were pointing your camera at with the reddish dirt is where the springs are located. The water is too hot to actually get into the hot springs. They had piping from the hot spring into large stock tanks where the water could cool off, and then you would get into the stock tanks. The Dugway military base removed all the tubs and water pipes and posted the signs to stay away. There's a rumor that someone got severely burned, and that's why they closed the area off.

Back in the 80's, we had a military exercise at Dugway proving grounds. That is where they tested all the nuclear and biological warfare weapons, don't drink the water out there. You might find yourself glowing at night.

A lot of people are under the misunderstanding that unexploded ordnance is the biggest hazard in bombing areas. They forget that there most likely are most likely toxic metals and chemicals, radiation, and a host of other industrial-like contamination. Most of the time the warning signs are for keeping people safely out rather than concealing secrets within. That said, I have a picture on my office wall of a vehicle shot up by 50mm ordnance after driving into a closed area. They were doing aircraft weapons testing and the pilot mistook the intruder for the remote control target. No one was killed, but it's a good reminder for newbies not to wander around.

Fun video!! I wonder if that old bus was actually a target for those aircraft from Wendover? By the way, Dougway Prooving Ground is the test range for ALL TYPES of ordinance so, well, in the future (?), I might suggest you stay well clear of that area! All that said I am continually impressed by your grit, courage and adventurous spirit! You are, indeed, so much like the original pioneers! As my daughters would say: "You GO girl!" Please keep these videos coming!!! Oh, and by the way: Take it from an old geezer who lived through the late 1950's /1960's ...life wasn't that great back then either! These ARE the good old days! :)

Yes the 50s & 60s was a wonderful time, it was really civilized with most respecting each other. Weather permitting you were outside all day except for meal time and then who’s mom was going to feed you. Girls and boys played together, BTW girls were tougher!!! Any exploring on unstable ground you need a rope around your waist tied off to a good stake or a travel buddy. Glad you went out there or I would have never seen that cool bus.

Yeah. It definitely was different. I have a cousin who is 56-born in ‘65. Her mom took her and her younger sister (born in 67) out to Arizona around ‘69. She gave the girls flashlights and let them run around out in the desert at night. They were “ camping “ in an old Ford Fairlane station wagon. Much safer and more freedom then.

Those springs just need a little work with a tractor to get them going. It would be easy to just build up the ground around that pool and get it draining into the aria around it , mix it with some of the cooler water, build a little pit aria so swim around. The surprising thing here is why isn't there a massive geothermal power plant out there if the water is that hot. From the paint on the bus it looks like the ones the military uses to haul people around, probably came from that base out there.

It also works great for house hold items fridges freezers, TVs, lights, and as long as you don't overload it.
