For me what's most important is quick and consistent heat. I do large scale murals on wood for room/office/outdoor features. Sometimes park signs. It involves a lot of shading. Until now I've been borrowing a woodburning from a local gallery but now I'm getting enough work to purchase my own and I'm trying to decide which would be best

The car analogy is perfect! Sounds like the first two are Ford Focuses, the boxy one is the basic model Kia Anything, and the rest are souped-up Audis. Great info and presented in a clear, straightforward way.

Hey Lawrence! If you’re looking for a hot an efficient wire tip burner, I would skip the walnut follow and go straightening t to a pro kit. The walnut hollow is more of a beginner tool with easy to change tips.

Or do you think I would be happer with the Colwood Cub one?
@Pyrocrafters
@Pyrocrafters 2 жыл бұрын
I think you’d probably prefer a Colwood wire as opposed to a WH (if you’re looking for higher heats). I’m not sure how hot the Cub gets, but it’s probably hotter than the WH.

Hey Kevin! It fluctuates a lot. Right now it's $70 on amazon amzn.to/3zEY2dv. I've seen it as low as $56 and as high as $99 in stores. I think it really depends on timing and location.

I’m so very happy I found your channel . You are so patient and informative. ** new Subscriber** I’m trying to accomplish 1 thing . My Husband built me a beautiful bookshelf above my fireplace. It already had detail in some of the soft pine wood . ( a flower pattern ) I simply want to burn the flower pattern in the wood prior to putting a light stain overtop of the entire bookshelf. I want that flower pattern to completely pop and be the center of attention on the fireplace . I know it’s going to be dark/burnt . I’m not trying to get color . I just want the contrast of the dark and light in the wood . I also want to be able to follow the edge pattern that is already in the wood . It not very intricate it’s kinda basic . Yet I’m still terrified to get started . Can you Please , Please give me any suggestions on what machine I should buy ( best for this project ) honestly I haven’t started it. My sweet husband has been so patient he built it 2 years ago . I’m just so scared I’m going to ruin it . If I like wood burning and develop a new hobby even better . But specifically for a project like this to just follow a basic pattern already somewhat engraved in the wood . I’m just going overtop of it trying to get the color ( burnt look ) what machine would you recommend . Thank you so very much in advance 🌺💜

Hi there! I’m so glad you like the video!! Any burning kit will accomplish this project for you. What type of wood is it? And what do you want most from a burning kit?
@blessyourheart1167
@blessyourheart1167 2 жыл бұрын
@@Pyrocrafters I believe the wood is a very soft pine wood . So basically I’m just wanting to burn a pattern ( already pre-manufactured in a soft pine wood ) so I just want to burn right over that pattern. I’ve been binge watching your videos and I actually really loved the Golden oak you topped your hammer head project off with . The contrast Was Beautiful!! That is the exact look I’m trying to accomplish . I just need to know the best kit you would recommend and possibly the tip you would recommend as well . I’m in no hurry what so ever . It’s a project of …. ( labor of love ) so I will be just taking my time and enjoying the process . I really appreciate you taking the time to respond to my text and questions. Extremely kind and considerate of you 🌺💜 once again Thank you so much in advance for you consideration. Please if you can help me pick the best burning kit for soft pine wood to follow a already pre- manufactured design in the soft pine wood , And also which tip would you recommend. The design will most likely not need any shading . Just a very delicate fine line ( like a vine and then it turns into a leaf) all I’m wanting to do at this point is just trace the pattern in the wood . With the burn tool . Then stain the entire bookshelf possibly that beautiful Golden Oak you used on your hammer project ( I loved that contrast) also I must say as I binge watch your videos. My sisters and I love your rolling pins creations . They are also fabulous. However I think at this point all of your projects are fantastic!! Thank you In advance Martie

Hey Martie! Pine is a tricky wood to burn, but doable. First, make sure youre in a well ventilated space. I’ve never had an issue burning pine, but I’ve met some people that said the smoke irritated them. So make sure to be safe. Go slow and burn at a lower heat; the varying grains in pine make it hard to get straight lines. The best way is to go slow and burn at a lower heat. If you’re using a golden oak stain, make sure to burn dark. Lighter burn areas make get lost in a darker stain color, but if you burn dark enough, it will be okay. As for the kit, any kit will accomplish your needs. It just depends on how much you want to spend and what features you want. A brass tip kit like Walnut Hollow is inexpensive, but it’s a slower process. They don’t get as hot and they take a while to heat up and cool down. So tip changes take a while. A wire tip kit like a Razertip, Colwood, Optima, Truart….are expensive. They run from $200-500 depending on the model and kit accessories. But they are much faster, hotter, and easy to use. Any one of these types of kits will work, you just need to decide how fast and how much money you want to spend to complete the project. As far as the tips go, I would use a skew tip to outline your silhouette. It will give you a nice crisp border. And then use a shader tip to fill in the artwork. Thanks for watching my videos! I appreciate it so much!

@@Pyrocrafters you are absolutely too kind !! Thank you 🙏 so very much for taking the time to explain everything in detail to me . I am very grateful and humbled you took the time 💜 I will most certainly be utilizing all of your advice !! Thank God I’m at a point in my life where money isn’t the biggest issue. Unfortunately with that bit of confidence and stability I was very blessed to have . My basement just completely flooded. Which is going to hinder he doing my project anytime do . Unfortunately it was the sewer line that backed up into our basement so most of our savings ( emergency fund ) going to be used to get that back to the beautiful finished state it was in . So I’ll have the time to save up and buy a better quality kit . I my situation time is money ( money is time ) so I’m still working full time. I can work overtime and make it up . Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your sharing your knowledge and time explaining everything in great detail to a newbie …. I can not really put into words just how much I truly appreciate it ! You are absolutely amazing !! I love your channel and you also have me wanting to make those beautiful rolling pins . does the creative tool hold heat better then the versa tool?
@Pyrocrafters
@Pyrocrafters 2 жыл бұрын
They are are about the same. The creative does get a bit hotter, but not by much. The biggest advantage of the creative tool is how easy it is to change the tips. Unlike the Versa tool; you don’t have to wait forever through the heating and cooling process to change tips.

Does the walnut hollow wire tip unit get hotter then the other craft burnners? I have a craft burnner with the screw in tips but need one thats a little hotter
@Pyrocrafters
@Pyrocrafters 2 жыл бұрын
Not by very much, the WH wire tip is more of a craft burner that has extra features like quicker heat/cooling, easy tip changes and more heat settings. But the heat isn’t as hot as the more expensive kits.

They Bethany! Are you wanting to start with a brass tip kit? It's great for beginners because the investment is inexpensive. Truart and Walnut Hollow make great brass tip kits. As far as the wire tip kits go, Colwood, Truart, Burnmaster and Razertip are all high quality brands that I think you'd be pleased with. What's the most important feature you'd like to have?
@mystictempt763

Couldn't you just unplug the burner and use a pair of pliers with rubber handles and screw and unscrew the hot tips to change them out? As long as you put the used hot tip somewhere that is heat resistant, the rubber on the pliers would keep you from getting burned, and you don't have to wait for the entire burner to cool off before changing them
@Pyrocrafters
@Pyrocrafters Жыл бұрын
Are you referring to the solid brass tips? If so, then no. Even if you use pliers, the metal is so pliable when it's hot. The screws will very easily strip and you won't be able to use the wand anymore. You may be able to get away with it a few times before that happens, but eventually it will break from the heat. So it's more about not break the tool than it is about burning yourself. You've got to let the metal cool. I've learned that the hard way. If you are referring to the wire tips, then sure. All of the wire tip kits I use have wands or tips with prongs and there's no threat of stripping.

Will the colwood tips fit the walnut hollow
@Pyrocrafters
@Pyrocrafters 3 жыл бұрын
No, the Colwood tips are larger. Plus the walnut hollow wire tips snap in place. So I would be hesitant to use a different tip for fear of it not seating properly. It may cause damage.
