Gary, this is unbelievably beautiful, and you just found the perfect shape and finish for it!!! The grain and the colours of the wood are simply breathtaking. Nature at its best, with a little refinement from Gary 😊 The pot-pourri bowl with these two hummingbirds is the sweetest thing indeed 😊 If only we could touch the bowl to feel the smooth surface and the energy of the material… And your message is definitely one that we need. There are more good and kind people in this world than we will ever know, we should never forget that. Thank you, Gary, enjoy the hummingbirds 😊🙏🏻

Thank you very much for such a thoughtful comment. Yes Black Locust has very beautiful grain. At first it might look a bit plain but when you let the light play with the grain it really speaks. I have not turned Yew but I know it is really pretty wood. The hardness of the wood is the reason it came out so smooth with such a glass like wood. The world is a big place and the majority of the people on it are good people. With what we have been going through it can be easy to forget. It was great to be reminded by Joseph. Our little hummingbirds in the back yard are busy with their nest but a few still come around daily. Thanks again for watching and commenting, Gary

Lovely bowl Gary and I guessed it quite early in your turning because I make a lot of potpourri bowls! I segment mine but your solid piece of locust really stands out and your finish is one I am going to try soon, thanks for another good one! Cheers Al

That's beautiful Gary! There's Black Locust that grows here in my neighborhood in Maine it's not native but it grows like a weed here. I been going to try turning some now I know what it looks like I'm going to cut some up and give it a whirl on the lathe!!! From Happy wood turnings here at Ducklake Maine!👍

Thank you Jon. It is a pretty hard wood when it is completely dry. But still well worth turning. I turned a lot when it was fresh and it did ok. Still pretty hard but turns nice. Have fune, Gary

I had to watch Your video twice, Gary to check when did You replace a wood with glass when I saw finished project 👍😀 This time not a shine is the best but the chatoyance and grain. It is hard to find properly words to describe that effect. Beautiful work my friend 👌💪 Rav
@ThePapa19473 жыл бұрын
Thanks Rav, through the magic of editing I was able to slip the glass one in LOL. For sure the chatoyance really showed up when it was rotating. I like holding it and tilting every which way. That is what I really like about Black Locust. Thanks for all your comments my friend, Gary
