Yes sir those are bug holes. If you leave macadamia wood on the ground the bugs get into it with lightning speed. Funny thing is some of the wood has it and other parts of the same log don't. I love turning it and it is beautiful. I like your design. Thank you for sharing.

Looking good so far Luie but I have to go take care of dinner. My turn to cook and trying a new dish. It is like doing a segment job. One step at a time. New recipe and looking good just like your turning. See you later tonight to finish watching the last 5 minutes. Ok I am back and finished watching. A very cool looking vase. I just love Macadamia wood. Even thought the bugs made a few holes it did not hurt the looks at all. The wood has amazing grain. I was lucky to a get a nice log of it about 5 years ago at a garage sale. Looking forward to what you make out of the other piece. Gary

On a side note I wasn’t woodworking but it’s cold here I had to start a fire today and get some wood mostly out here it’s lodgepole pine but some oak and mahogany burns nice
