Even with a delicate touch, that glue ought to be commended.
@Luckingsworth

Wood glue is stronger than wood itself. That bond is strong enough to withstand much higher forces.
@Luckingsworth
@Luckingsworth 4 жыл бұрын
@Max Paine Use the proper glue. Not all glue is meant for all surfaces. Properly prep the surface by cleaning it thoroughly, ending with a wipe with 99% isopropyl alcohol. Let it dry completely, and use the proper glue for the surface. Certain surfaces might also need to be scuffed up with sand paper prior to final cleaning.

@@Luckingsworth Think about how thin the contact is, though, even if it were just wood, no glue, it would have a rough time holding together. Certainly wouldn't take any sort of forces.

It could look good, but it would take some of the charm from this bowl. Not to mention how much easier it would have been to turn had all the gaps been filled with resin in the first place.

“Look deep in to the bowl. Watch it spin and hear my voice. Subscribe...” had me cracking up!! I think this is my new favorite piece that you’ve made. It’s absolutely beautiful!! I was holding my breath when you were going thinner and thinner out of fear it might break, but you did it flawlessly. This was so much fun to watch! Thank you so much for sharing it 💜 With spring coming up in a week do you think you will make a resin inlaid piece to celebrate? Maybe something with a butterfly, flowers, or birds?

Man what a touch ! I must admit that the entire time I watched my butt was scrunched up so tight that you couldn't have drove a straight pin up it with an 8 pound sledge hammer. When you started sanding between them I though , Don't let it pop now. Glad to see it completed ! Going to take a nap now, I'm wore out !

At the beginning I thought, "This isn't the precise guy I am used to seeing". Then it began to look better. Then the spin started and I thought no way it will hold together. And during the whole thing I was on the edge of my chair. Hey, wood turning is supposed to be soothing, not nerve wracking, and I was just watching. And then you said you wanted it thinner. I just knew it was going to come apart. Well it didn't and it's finished and now I can finally relax. I can only imagine how you felt when it was over. Thanks for another VERY interesting visit to the Humphrey shop.
