Robbie my friend, this time you literally added a new dimension to the wood turning craft. At one point I disagree with you an Alan. The sixth 'bowl' could be the recess for holding large candles as you suggested. This way the whole piece would become a multi-purpose bowl / candle holder. One time peanuts with the friends watching the soccer world championship, the next time cosy atmosphere for a nice evening with you loved one (this might be necessary after the first event with the peanuts). Greetings from Good Old Germany Peter

Super cool! I guess you could have a naming contest over the bowl name. I'd suggest a dimple bowl. Enjoyed the music bed as well. I was looking for Clint Eastwood to appear with two pistols ready to get rid of the bad guy.

Essentially, you made 4 natural edge bowls (sides) and 1 end grain bowl (end). As I watched, I wanted the 2nd end grain in the bottom. but that would be pretty useless. Great job. Alan

Hi Robbie, great bowls, great jig, nice project. Is it possible to turn a Kuksa or wooden cup with a handle on the lathe. It is a Finnish or Scandinavian cup usually hand carved out of Birch burl. The handle can be as simple as a rounded peg or have one or two finger holes. I have never seen anyone on You tube make one. Thanks for sharing.
@Robbiethewoodturner10 жыл бұрын
thanks Kevin i don't know but if it has being turned on the lathe i am sure i will give it a try i will defendant look in to it and see what i find out have you here of any turners making one if so let me know all the best Robbie

Robbie, I like that you are brave enough to create these interesting jigs and share them with us. Very interesting shape. I wonder what it would be like if you cut the side bowls deep enough that they intersected? Wouldn't be "bowls" of course, but might be an interesting shape. Regards, Alex

This was super Robbie. I watched it twice because I noticed something on the first run through and wanted to concentrate on it next time through because it was fascinating...it's the beautiful, delicate, movements you make with your fingers when you are guiding the gouges. That wasn't as apparent on other videos but you used some new camera angles which let us see more closely what your hands were doing. Now I'm going to get loads of catches because I'll be watching my fingers when I'm trying to use a gouge like you do. Best Wishes, Brendan.
@Robbiethewoodturner10 жыл бұрын
What works for me Brendan might not suite outer turners i think we all Develop our own style and have our own habits that work for us might not work for outers
@baconsoda10 жыл бұрын
Robbiethewoodturner That's very true Robbie but I think it helps new, and older, turners to see how delicately you move the chisel. How they do that may vary but the technique is being learned. I remember my Great Uncle Michael, who was a Master Carpenter saying to me 'Sand the wood like you love it' when he saw me attacking a board in his workshop when I was a lad. Simple message, I never forgot. Best Wishes, Brendan.
