Two suggestions on the patterns sticking: 1)let the spray glue dry for 1-2 minutes before applying to wood (varies by temperature and humidity) and 2) when done, put them under a hot-air gun for a couple seconds - it softens the glue right up and lets you rub off the residue with ease. Nice piece for last minute gifts!

Great video, my wife would have loved one of these with a cigarette holder on top 😂 back in the day before she got her kindle. Now she mostly uses the kindle and she quit smoking in 2013.

For a kindle you could try a flatter bottom ... 😉 Congratulations on 11 years smoke free!!!

Heart shape would be a nice gift for my wife

Very nice. For something like this I use painters tape first and then glue on the pattern when you are done it comes off easily. Dan

Glue sticks are another option that I learned from Matthias Wandel. For a small item like this I did want to be sure that the pattern would not shift at all. I just should be a lighter hand when spraying the adhesive. thanks for watching

Have made some years ago, sold at craft shows. Mine are some wider or longer. Mostly teachers bought them to hold open books to show students various pictures. I could not believe the question as what they were. Still have many laying around. 8:01

Never thought of teachers, interesting. Thanks for watching!

@@Wordsnwood, actually after they did not sell to well, my wife is a retired teacher, so they made nice gifts to them.

I loved your projects such a great Idea. You use paint thinner to remove the pattern just saturate the paper let it sit for several seconds and it should come off easaly.

I made a bunch of these a few years ago to give away as gifts. Everyone loved them, at first. after a couple weeks, most of the people I gave them to stopped using them. They all said they get in the way and are a bit more of a hassle to use then just using your thumb.
@WordsnwoodАй бұрын
Quite possibly a momentary thing, but they are quick and fun to build so a fun night in the shop was still had! thanks!

Requires holing your thumb there infinitely. No sale.

Well I suppose you could try holding a book with your elbows... Seriously, If it's not for you, no problem. Have a great December!

thanks … I made a few of these yesterday for some friendly bookworms … small tip if you put a half round over on the ends of the bat wings it gives it a more sculptural shape

You know I know I can make this without the plans you offer but I thought it be nice to show some support and purchase anyway. Even found plans for something else . I was going to buy both. Then when I went to check out there was a mandatory tip! Wth is that about? I canceled my order. And sad part is I would have paid the full amount if not for the misleading and mandatory tip. So tacky.

Tipping is a new option that my store hosting company added last August. It is most definitely NOT Mandatory. You can click the "0%" button. However, I had not known that they had automatically set things to default to 20%. I have reached out to their support to get them to address this. Thank-you for pointing it out. I have disabled tipping on my account until they clarify things.
