W-L balance is definitely not a scam. It's a concept that makes intuitive sense for most people. Some people identify with their work so much, that they intermesh W & L. Chris probably does this with his role at Futur, and good on him. But for most people for whom work is mostly just a paycheck, there are clear psychological benefits of drawing distinct lines between work life and personal life.

When you retire, it doesn't mean you stop having a purpose or utility in life. Work isn't the purpose of life. You can do 0% work (as in employment) and still find fulfillment in family, hobbies, or community work.

Fr, most people who are retired are still doing stuff, some still work but others don’t work but they still do other things, they’re at least doing something cuz doing nothing is also boring if you do it long enough, doing nothing is definitely good after a stressful and hard/rough day or also used as a day or a few days to relax but doing nothing everyday is not how to live at least to most people so they generally do at least something

This was quite superficial. Sinek was asked about work-life balance, and he doesn’t like the term because you have to choose one? That’s the opposite of what balance means. Nothing profound here or from Sinek. Western society demands you strive for a good life by being more productive. However, wages don’t keep up with lifestyle demands and that’s how the trap works. Might I suggest a book called ‘Bullshit Jobs’ by David Graeber to put things into a sensible perspective…have a good day.

Most work will never be the passion of the performer, sometimes your performing because your capable to perform. Yes those who have a passion will excel, but life isn't fair and everyone doesn't get to do their passion. So dont listen to this from such a perspective.
