it is so strange that the choral version of "Let the River Run" can't be found on any official music platform! the best performance of this beautiful song from the movie.

Also annoying that Shazam won’t identify it…probably a copyright issue in the UK

I was in NYC a few years ago now and I caught the Staten Island ferry and we sailed past the Statue of Liberty. I couldn't help but hear the 11:39 "Back to Square One" theme in my head and it actually made me emotional. It's a beautiful little piece of music and I could imagine people having a rough day at work like Tess had and then getting the ferry back home to Staten Island. Thanks for uploading this! So hard to find this great soundtrack in full anywhere online which is a real shame.

Thank you for all the kind words. Of course, I had no input at all into the making of the soundtrack album. Also, most of these score cues are very short, and don't really work well standing alone on a record. It was an interesting time.

The cue at @11:39 is so simple, beautiful and powerful. I love that long holding shot of Tess feeling defeated and this piece of music together. I'm a fan.

I grew up with the 80s. With their creativity in nobody else and their caricatural drift having led them to their loss and to the current musical disaster … However, this decade stays part of all the others at the artistic level and this movie is one of unforgettable nuggets there, as only the Americans know how to produce it. I had to see it 40 times at least. YET apparently, neither Mike Nichols nor his team, and certainly no actors of the trio of top of the bill, expected the global success of the movie. Certainly they had written, played and produced an excellent movie but that remained a small movie of dramatic comedy, chronicle of customs, jubilant and fascinating because symbolic of period, but I think that even for the producers having believed in the project, that stopped there. Ford usual state of this kind of performance except its blockbusters, as he also made it for example, with the magnificent "About Henry". Nevertheless America being what it is, and its cinema being this effective industry which everybody knows, they had for all that made compose a magnificent title, "Let The River Run", but who was intended apparently only to remain a music movie theme and not a single, on any account a hit. The success of the movie questioned everything it seems to me, because the fantastic music of beginning credits and the end, with this prodigious choir way gospel, remained only a product of registered again studio, with clip suited in the key, completely prefabricated, totally smoothed, without soul, with omnipresent Carly Simon whereas the choir and the voicesof head of background had almost disappeared, for the benefit of an indigestible saturated guitar and of a drum kit slowed down instead of the groovies percussions of the movie. Immense disappointment. Just like the end of the 80s which tried to level down everything to create at all costs tubes of mass, by betting only on the gregarious to please the largest number. Until the inevitable happened: We killed the goose that lays the golden eggs. But it's another story. This is the way it was never possible to benefit in full from the song such as heard in the movie. Only 45-rpm rewritten and registered later. And that for me, saddened, but that was not possible! I captured on-line the audio of the beginning credits then the audio of the end credits of the movie and I cut them, jointed, molten together. A puzzle … I listened to and viewed a large number of files to choose the best in my ear. I tried as good as possible to equalize the volume and the bass-trebels of both parts, tried to reduce the background noises, etc., to amplify the signal, to densify the music, etc., etc., then I spent everything in stereo and finally, I pulled compatible Lossless M4a iTunes Mac/PC, which you can listen to as well on your computer, your mobile, on a WiFi surrounding speaker, or to burn it on a CD to play it on your laser assembly. I tested everything: for me, the result is totally satisfactory Certainly, it is not purely completed, but it is more than convincing. It is the object of this long speech and this comment: I put the file on a online server division on whom I am subscribed for you to offer it in download … To you to tell me if it is a beautiful present or not! In any event, to my knowledge it’s unique: it has never existed on web … Very cordially to all the lovers of real musics and the real movies, Neum Let The River Run (Theatrical Version).m4a (9.68 MB) Description: Unprecedented complete theatrical Version of the song of Carly Simon for the Mike Nichols's Film 'Working Girl' (1989) and not its re-recording studio, in a common way re-orchestrated and sung, realized after the success of the movie. uptobox.com/xdclujrwl4nm

Thanks for this🙏 I had the WG soundtrack on vinyl and the only worthwhile parts of it were Carly's tracks, of which, as you say, there weren't sufficient number. I actually found this post while searching for ANYthing related to the Carly Simon score for Postcards from the Edge. I have been able to find absolutely nothing..officially released or even fan-posted on KZbin. This seems so crazy considering her score was even Bafta nominated. I don't know how you accessed these tracks , but is there any chance you would be interested in doing something similar for Postcards?? I do get regularly peeved about how often wonderful movie scores are not available at all, even when there IS a so called soundtrack album.
