Happy birthday! This was such a fun video! For notebooks I find that having a 3 notebook system works for me: one is for sketching, one is a bullet journal that I use for more structured planning and journaling, and one is like a messy ideas / scribble / random notebook. I found that having a designated random messy notebook was really helpful, because I would get really precious with my notebooks and then never use them, and write all my notes/ thoughts on scraps of paper that I would then lose.

1. Be not ashamed of that icing, for I once made gack. Yes, I used corn starch instead of powdered sugar. Did I notice until I had already iced my mother's hand-made from-scratch spice cake? No. Had I waited to ice it until it had fully cooled? Also no so it had melted INTO the cake so there was no way to scrape it off. Still tasted fine, and I'm sure this icing was great too! 2. My notebook/sketchbook system is as follows: I have a bullet journal that I basically use as a planner but with an additional tracker for some health stuff, then I have separate notebooks (decomposition notebooks, can't recommend them enough) for separate things (one for D&D, one for cooking, a few old ones for old things, and one for brain dump/projects), and then I have one "dump" sketchbook with not so great paper and my "nice" sketchbook with actually good paper. Been doin it for years.

your granny squares are so cute! i wouldn’t stress too much about the outcomes of blocking at this point - they stretch out a bit when you join them together and become more uniform once they’re made into a larger grid ❤

tip for blocking: if its acrylic yarn you can steam block it! it's more convenient for some people you can try it if you want

Sorry im a bit late to the crochet game BUT i also dont like the join as you go method for the same reason as you, and what i do is i only join vertical rows in this method, and i create a bunch of scarfs (if you wish to think about it in that way) and then i join those long stripes with the just single crochets. If you don't like the stitching look that last thing leaves in the back you can always join in the back loops for a seamless look. I love doing it this way because after your first scarf you can use the same end of yarn to create the scarf and then attach it to the other one, which leaves you with very little amount of ends to weave in. hope you see this and helps!

Happy belated Birthday! Seemed so fun! And for notebooks I tend to always have a bunch at once. One is used for my daily journaling, letting things go and writing down feelings and stuff. Another one is for art related stuff, specifically inventory, item ideas, some small thumbs here and there especially for art markets. I carry a small notebook, pocket-sized for on the go idea or insperations, as I do write a bunch on the side. And lastly I have another for character and story lore personally for a project I'm working on which contains small sketches, character info and lore, and small snippets of writing for the novel since it is a thesis I'm working on for my BFA this year :) I have a bunch more, but its more story writing lol

Heya Megan! Halfway through the video, but I've just learnt that all acrylic, and synthetic fibres work best with steam blocking!! I'm not sure what type of yarn you're using, but I have the same mats and pins, and i have to say that Steam blocking works an absolute treat!!! It flattens and stretches out the fibres soooooo welll!!
@MeganWangart Жыл бұрын
omg I have a steamer so I should definitely try this!!! all the granny squares are made with 100% cotton though.. i wonder if they'll shrink haha
@SirWolfsbane3 Жыл бұрын
@@MeganWangart Defs try!! I think wool is still good for normal wash blocking and the like. I just have a load of acrylic yarns and I found online that steam blocking works best for that :) But yes, hope it all goes well!!:P

1. Notebook - Morning pages type / general art thoughts and planning 2. Notebook - General thoughts esp financing but not art related matter 3. Notebook - for art classes in case there is a mini lecture or nugget of gold from the tutor 4. Sketchbook esp related to specific projects. Some writings if projects related 5. Lots of general small sketchbooks for doodling when out and about It’s a lot but works for me (for now). I agree the notebooks have nice paper but not suitable for sketching drawing or painting

@@MeganWangart it’s cos I draw / write things down then could not find it later! This way all my art related matters are in the correct bundle. Granted I still draw in my notebooks and get things crossed cos when an idea comes to my head I need to get things down quick. However some organisation helps so the thoughts are useable for projects later

For notebook organziations I tend to have separate notebooks for every "genre" I have my ideas notebook, my character references, my comic notebook, my lists notebook, etc. If I mix a lot of different ideas in a notebook, I color code each area/genre with different colored pens!
