I use the front brake a lot in corners, but notice the top guys don’t do this (look at pictures of Jett, Deegan, Stewart, Roczen etc.) they just lean, is it possible the front brake is killing roll speed?

It sure is, you are probably overbraking the corner. As a drill, try just completely letting off the front brake when the rut starts. You will notice you can carry way more speed. That feels super scary at first. The pros I would guess only do like 10% brake pressure to the apex to keep a bit of weight on the front.
