I used to be a kennel attendant before I was a vet tech and I had my mini Aussie at the clinic with me for something (don’t remember what) and they could hear her in the treatment room through the sound muffling doors so one of the vets measured the decibels of her bark and it was in hearing damage range, I think it was over 100dB. No wonder I can’t hear after 12 years of her barking 😅

May I ask why not just train them not to bark? Please, I beg you to understand that I am genuinely asking, and I am in no way trying to be a smart Alec, nor am I even against what youre doing. I promise I am genuinely asking out of curiosity, as I grew up with my family dogs always being trained to not bark. I know that everyone is different, and there is no real one way to train/raise your dog. I respect everyone's opinion, and their choices on how they train/raise their dogs, with zero judgement. I truly hope I do not cause any offense with my question.

As someone who's actually worked with dogs for around a decade, Tenrec is absolutely, 100%, not going to be 'offended'. The concern is sweet, but dogs just do not think/process like that. Hours and hours of barking a day (and I have SPD) really does hurt, and humans venting about it is a way to reduce stress. It's never going to result in any behavioural changes, positive or negative. It's just how humans associate. Training can be done to reduce barking but a dog certainly won't be impacted by a human saying that their ears hurt. Believe me. 😅

There are intelligent, thoughtful breeds which are quiet, but I guess that's just me.😊 I'm fascinated by your channel, because I've never seen anyone teach a dog to respond in English. Advise from pro dog trainer; teach him "indoor voice." I do this within 2- 3 days for all of my boarders and my dogs (permanent plus fosters) and it's a huge relief to have "volume control." But most of all, it's part of the "map" I give them to their non-anxious self. While I've yet to get these exciting buttons, their own doggy-vocalizations are now more diverse and include low grumbles, sniffles and etc to communicate w me. The domestic dog in my home is on the way to the awesome vocabulary as a domestic cat, who comes using a hundred words in their own language. Contact me if you want advice. ❤
