Great set for the money for a Diyer or homeowner. I got it a few weeks ago. I tested all the tools and they all worked well. No complaints here. Can’t beat the price at $279 from Lowes.

I have gotten quite a few of the new Craftsman v20 tools and they all work great for the work I do. A good idea is to keep the batteries in the house during the winter as the freezing temperatures will damage the batteries and they will not recharge when cold. It talks about to much heat in the owners manual but nothing about to cold.

I just bought the 6 piece set for $100 off at $199, and I absolutely love it. The new Craftsman makes excellent tools and they are basically just cheaper Dewalt tools today as they operate from the same platform
@seeseabee7165 Жыл бұрын
I think many people on here clearly show their biases. I found a few who really use the tool, time it and provide stats on performance. It also is long lasting. On reviewer said his Dewalt is heavier. The next reviewer dings a tool for being heavier as they say a day of work holding a heavy tool is not a positive in his point of view. Each of these people place a more or less importance on something based upon their opinions and experiences. Craftsman is a great DIY platform and works for starters and experienced alike and will last them long enough until they decide which high end platform they wish to move to as they elevate their skills.

Honestly for a new home owner who isn't a craftsman (pun intended), this is a tremendous value. While the tools may not be up to daily driver standards they will most likely last for years for a new home owner or someone just getting into projects. It gives them a variety of tools to get jobs done. By the time they have more experience they can slowly replace the tools one at a time with better quality stuff. Or alternatively if they realize a few years down the road that they would rather hire someone else to do the work they haven't invested a tremendous amount of money in tools that they will never or rarely use.

This is my observation and by no means reality: Craftsman is now competing with Kobalt, Metabo HPT and Flex. Chervon makes Kobalt and Flex, so they can really drop the prices to make customers jump into their line. So, if you are competing between Ryobi and Kobalt, you put out a kit like this and the 5 piece kit I listed in the description for 179 and beat the snot out of the other junk.

That's a great value for DIY or limited pro use. A tile guy I know uses some of the V20 tools (drill, grinder, oscillator) and they have held up well because he makes a few cuts, fastens some backerboard, and then muds and sets tile. The 4aH batteries have worked well for him, too. Nice review as usual. Happy holidays to everyone.

When I started like 27 years ago or whatever it was I had a corded Craftsman drill, and I still have it. Of course the quality was a lot better back then but honestly I've never needed another drill except for a small cordless for car interiors.
@Fictitious_Character3 жыл бұрын
For someone looking for quantity over quality for basic tasks I could see this making them happy. Add in the 20v 7 1/4 miter saw kit that comes with a 4ah batt and maybe a good deal on a nailer, and that would get a lot of small home projects done. Assuming they don't break. I primarily focus on tools that make my day easier and in return make me money on the job, so not my cup of tea.

I've been buying a few craftsman v20 tools on sale lately. Their 18ga nailer, vacuum, oscilating tool, and jigsaw. They're pretty well made for the price, but definitely not tools I would use to make a living on. Great value for tools that you use for ocassional projects. Overall this looks like a good deal for someone who's just getting started with power tools.

I have most of these tools, bought separately, all good quality. My only complaint is the ergonomics of the circular saw, it’s handle is too flat / nearly parallel to the work plane. Otherwise the V20 platform really works great. Thanks for your solid review. I am interested in whether they will be launching a hand planer and router in the V20- that would make this a perfect line
@atrainace1143 жыл бұрын
it's not the worst kit I guess. A lot of brushed tools. I think, even if I was a weekend worker, I would have paid the extra $120and got that dewalt deal from home depot. You buy the impact and hammer drill then pick 3 free tools. All brushless and some flexvolt advantage tools with way better batteries. Craftsman 4ah batteries are pretty good but the 2ah are pretty bad.
@WorkshopAddict3 жыл бұрын
IMHO, you are a bit more advanced for this kit. You know the brands and why you would want to move up. This kit is competing with the 6-piece Ryobi kit and it blows that out of the water.
@caramelzappa3 жыл бұрын
I think for the people this kit is for, it really doesn't matter if the tools are brushed or not. They'll never notice or care about the difference.
@Apache-Helicopter-Life3 жыл бұрын
For the three free tools at HD, you have to spend $599, that’s $320 more than this. For $399 ($120 more) you get 2 free tools. Clearly they are better but 4 great tools to a contractor may be worth more than 7 lower end tools. But as stated below, these kits are great for people who don’t know the difference, or care about the difference between brushed and brushless tools.

How does this compare to the Ryobi 6 piece? Assume the circ saw is better. Nice to have a sander, but I would assume it'll eat those little batteries up. Definitely a tool I prefer to have corded. Would be nice to have a 4ah like the Ryobi kit for the the circ and recipe saws
@WorkshopAddict3 жыл бұрын
This kit eats the Ryobi kit for lunch. You need to buy larger batteries with this kit or the Ryobi kit. The sander does well even with the smaller batteries. Circ saw and recip saw need the larger batteries to be useful, IMHO.

Right now, at Lowe’s, you can buy a 2-pack of Craftsman 4.0Ah batteries on sale for $79! I think the sale is good till January 2, 2022?! I now own some Craftsman 20V tools, thanks to Lowe’s $99 20V Charger and 4.0Ah battery Starter Kit with a FREE tool! I opted for the FREE $200 Radio/Charger, as that thing sounds awesome! And see if your Lowe’s has the Craftsman 20V Hammer Drill CMCD721B, as it’s on clearance for $29.67 and the stats are much better than the current 700 model, on sale, selling for $59! And then look for the Craftsman 1200 lumen work light (Underhood light) as its 50% discounted to $74, and is almost exactly like the DeWalt Light! And then, look in the OPE weedeater section and grab the Craftsman 20V weedeater and blower kit with a charger and 2.0Ah battery for 50% discount, selling for $59! Great deals at Lowe’s, right now!

@@WorkshopAddict Mate if my comments are not welcome on your channel, I can move away with ease, just say so. Look, the thing is that a bad tool is a bad tool, regardless in who's hand. This set compares to something below any non-brushless from any major brand, while two 2Ah batteries are way below what anyone would need. Now just think about it; the poor guy will need at least one hefty battery and that alone brings him into pro numbers. Why stick to a very limited in choice and quality kit, when you can enter into a better line of tools. Makes no sense. DeWalt cordless sells for peanuts, but at least you could expand on the battery platform, same with Milwaukee and Makita... I should care less about things I'm not personally interested in, but just like any other tool nerd, I all over the place (LOL) and I hate knowing that I could have saved a good person from doing a bad investment. Just my opinion, but this comes off more like an infomercial than a review. (which maybe that was the goal). You just talked about the 'features' but clearly none of these tools were used. I can read all about what they are 'suppose' do on the company website. What everyone wants to know is how they actually perform and hold up. That seems far more valuable information to me.

It was/is a balancing act. How long of a video do people want to watch. I go through those tools individually in videos later. At that time, I wanted to get the info out and then review them.
