The Horde and Alliance actually both have the same experience, the only key difference being the NPC's that you come across. What you came across on the island appears to be some kind of W.I.P section that never made it to live, perhaps scrapped or a discontinued project that they made but never removed. As someone who experiences a lot of OOB stuff on a different server that isn't retail, it's always interesting to see things like this. All of the Forsaken stuff around, as well as the whole Stormheim Vrykul themed structures, suggests that it was maybe something they planned to be part of the main tutorial for new players to visit and never made it in fully.

yeah, it kinda seems like the horde was going to have their own thing, where they fought vrykul instead of ogres, which would have set up both as allied races. It's very "sylvannas horde", which is no longer a thing, so makes sense why it never got finished

Right at the beginning of the video between 0:34-0:39 straight ahead is an island that you can safely explore without getting the error in the cave (with the endless DCD loop). If you want to safely get across without any issues, this method will work well. All you have to do is finish the Exile's Reach dungeon Darkmaul Citadel and NOT complete the final quest that brings you to Stormwind/Orgrimmar. Go out into the fatigue zone, and keep swimming as far as you can. Keep in mind that ANY class can do this, whether a heal spec or not. Once the yellow fatigue bar almost hits the very end, queue in the dungeon. It should take a few seconds for you to get the screen where you can enter, but DON'T enter until you are dead. Otherwise, you will be blocked from accessing the dungeon. If it's just you in the dungeon, you can leave instantly without consequences. If you are in a group with others, wait until you are finished with the dungeon to entirely leave (but if you leave instantly a 30 min lockout from dungeons will be on your screen). Keep doing this until you are out of the fatigue zone and on the island. You will know you are on the right island if you see elven structures on your left. Once you get there, go around the corner and look for the cave that is right next to Vrykul structures. Go in the cave and you will see the message that will want you to go back to Orgrimmar/Stormwind- DO NOT touch any of those icons. Instead, log out and come back in by inviting any player that is in the outdoor world that can access any content. Use a few toys in your toy box inside the cave, and before leaving the cave exit the party. Then you have a character that can access regular dungeons, battlegrounds, and much more! Gone are the days on Exile's Reach where you can only level up to 18 on the island. :) I have a Pandaren Monk named Utilitymonk that is level 70 and swiftly leveled through dungeons inside about a month. When the War Within comes out I am planning to get World First for leveling on Exile's Reach. Hopefully this small guide helps!

Alright, here's an experiment for ya. Exile's Reach is actually home to DOZENS of islands like this, but distinct enough and uniquely modelled, but WAY too far out in the ocean to travel to. So what you need is a level 14 shaman to unlock Far Sight before leaving Exile's Reach. This takes some time replaying the dungeon over and over. Get the far sight macro that lets you infinitely far sight, then explore around looking at these islands with the macro. Nobodys done a full documentation of all of this unused geometry - granted it is mostly just Stormheim assets.

That looks like an exact copy paste of a section of Stormheim. Without knowing too much about this i'd wager that the developers of Exiles Reach cut a portion of the Stormheim and put it in this map to use as an asset palette. Just a way to copy already made rocks, waterfalls, trees, etc. to save design time and cost and either forgot to remove it after or kept it so you can see more islands in the distance. It's still super neat to see this though!

It is a "secret" ability: in order to learn it you must buy and read a book in the druid's legion class hall. So I don't know if it's available for a new character

You can pick up a letter in Legion Dalaran. It's on the ground by the mailbox at the bottom of the violet citadel. Follow the quest & play the little mini game to get a whistle for mail! :D

Fun fact, basically every single toy in the game is disabled during the exiles reach intro, so trying to do funny business by mailing something to yourself would only work if you found an actual working mailbox in that area. Well done escaping as you managed to, skipping the intro is much easier in places like gilneas since you're allowed to use toys or certain teleport abilities like the monk's Zen pilgrimage, but for whatever reason Blizzard really put the screws on doing goofy stuff in that new intro area. So cool to see an entire copy pasted legion zone here, would love to see other examples of this where you can experience most of the geography but without the region specific lighting. Wish I could sub again :-), keep your feet on the ground.

I think this confirms what I read somewhere (years ago) that Exiles Reach was part of the Broken Isles, but I was under the impression it was it was off the coast of Aszuna, not Stormheim, guess I was wrong :D

Yeah the Exiles Reach map includes a little portion of Stormheim that I guess they used as a base (and also lorewise the Island is in fact to the northeast of Stormheim I believe it's shown when you leave the island and get your "showing you traveling the world" map).

FYI: Exiles Reach is supposed to be at the coast of the Broken Isles, so it makes sence they used Stormheim as an asset on the horizon. Don't know if someone already mentioned it.

That is actually not supposed to be Stormheim: The terrain and assets are indeed copied from Stormheim, but lore-wise Stormheim is actually far to the Southwest of Exile's Reach, not to the North. So, the first island where you land is actually a copy of the Dreadwake's Landing, the Horde base in South Stormheim but flipped, this is not actually open to the sea but on a river so it's harder to identify at first. As you go up the mountain you reach a small vrykul farm corresponding to one called Jotunnwood, and the topmost vrykul village would be Hrydshal. The ruins you meet in the back is a copy of Vrekt, which is also in the South but actually in another landmass. The second island is a copy of Ravenperch Cove, to the North and flipped, including the mentioned Katterin's Hideout.

I remember doing this with the shaman far sight totem when this was new (was faster than swimming out to them). A lot of the islands are same stormheim island you see sometimes with weird terrain bugs or differnet assets(mainly undead themed boats). I do know that there is one island that is completely different believe it is to the south where you wake up on the shore. Its a small island with a small building or two on it. I do vaguely remember a third island that seemed like a island expedition map mixed with the original stormheim one. I just remember at the top of one of the mountains there was a flat area where one would put encampments. It had a few rock assets that looked like they belong to the ogres, but I don't remember it too well.

If you count the houses with the Vikings ship nearby that portion I could see as being a nod to the Lost Vikings who show up later in the Badlands dungeon. As far as other spots it looks like any of Sylvanas' siege ports or whatever that prison yard open world pvp area is.

thats the Vrykul town thats capturing dragons. for alliance at least it very soon after the stormhiem unlock quests where you get the launcher thing for climbing. you arrived at one of the horde camps for thier questchain.

There are other 2 Isles, One to the east and another to the south that you can reach the same way you did. I went to the East Isle, which has a Night elf temple and more Vrykul ruins. The south one I never went to.

with how your not a "new new" account, this really hurts to watch. Your a druid with NO water form. You have no WW elixirs which are easy to get (though annoying). SO MANY different "water breathing" things and sources. if i knew you, and i knew you were going to be doing this type of stuff, i would had hooked you up with Alchemy. I'd level on a new server just to help you out. 4:55 That is one thing, you have to be an engineer to use the "mailbox toy" and it's some level of engineering to use it. Though i don't know if your in a special instanced situation like how pandaland is which would answer my previous concerns. 14:30 FYI, Cat form is supposed to have "half fall damage" similar to the rogue class and pandarians.
