Dennis Lazavik was able to hide his deficiencies with 15 minutes on the clock. Chess should only be played with 1 minute, 1 sec increment. That is where you know who is truly skilled.

Why does Magnus just get to stay on board 1 despite not being anywhere near the top of the standings? Feels like an unfair advantage when every other player plays on a board relative to their spot on the leaderboard.

@ if you’ve watched this or similar tournaments in the past, board 1 always goes to the player currently leading the tournament. Sure, Manus gets to start on board 1 because he’s the highest rated player, but once the games start and we have leaders, they should be getting the top board. It seems Magnus is operating by a different set of rules.

Even in tennis, the draws are done in such a way that top players will meet in semi finals or finals. So, the main tables will be reserved for players like Magnus, Nepo, Caruana Hikaru etc...

That's because there was only game at a time and they had enough time to analyse the position. Also the guy who was doing commentary was good in analysis.

@ramansv3681 that's not the reason. Look at 2018 rapid and blitz FIDE commentry. That is still the gold standard. Ok top of the commentry the management surprisingly was top notch. And 2018 chess24 commentry of the world chess championship is the gold standard for classical.

Here's an idea: monitor all games through the app or code. Whenever there's an interesting moment or position, notify your broadcasting team and since you have broadcast rights, they can seamlessly switch to that game on air.
