The vibe is just so different with Stangmode from 5 years ago, even tho it feels like just yesterday when the 18+ released. He was so much more excited when that car came, we all were. The gen 3 car was much more exciting upon release. It was my personal "reasonably attainable" dream car, and I currently own a 2020 Mustang GT-CS on E85. So many of us just aren't excited for a locked ECU 'New Edge' S650 that can't even be tuned and arguably is uglier than an S550. The vibes are just different all around, understandably so....

@@DWH300 Trust me, mustang owners are ecstatic that Ford is keeping the mustang around for a few more years! The controversy comes from when you compare the S650 to the previous generation. It's only natural to be a little upset that Ford is locking the ECU, plus the new look is subjective given that it's essentially the same chassis and platform as last years model. The critic is well deserved but like you said, Ford could have just as easily discontinued the Mustang like Chevy and Dodge did to the Camaro/Challenger/Charger.

The locked ecu is said every time ford comes out with a new computer. It always ends with the aftermarket tuning it. Most of the people commenting were babies when the 2005 mustang came out with it's locked ecu, lol!

The real question is why the car gain so much weight and minimal power increase with loss of torque. Those are the questions you guys should be asking Ford. This is unacceptable. I don't know why everyone is shocked it's slower. Ford has done this for 30 years. It's always the midcycle refresh where they increase performance. look at the past. SN95 was slower than the fox. Then there was the new edge refresh increasing performance. Then the 3v came out and wasn't faster than the new edge. refresh(well 2011) brought the coyote and a bump in performance. Then the s550 came out with no performance gains. Then the 2018 refresh was faster. They literally do this every time.

Oh man ur right, well mostly. Base gen I coyote ran a flat 13.0. With base gears, base tires. Also the 3v was much faster than the new edge. New edge were dusted by the 3v. The 4.6 couldn't break in the 13secs without being modded. The 01 svt cobra was a little faster than the 3v. The 3v was internally flawed, but made a great drift car.

So many people complaining about the Performance but can we take time to appreciate Ford for even keeping the mustang tradition alive.? Getting a V8 in any vehicle in 2024/2025 is almost rare yet Ford doubled down on it & Worked out the emission regulations all while giving it modern interior touches. I think at this point its no longer really about the speed of the car on a stock tune and stock setup, its all about the improvements they’ve made to the platform, like can the block hold even more power? Can the transmission hold even more torque? Nowadays everyone buys a mustang to build it, customize it. So overall we have to see once the ECU gets unlocked (if it already isnt), to see the quirks and features the improved platform has.

In this video is showing this car doing a 12.3 which is fine but that is not a baseline because if you go ahead and purchase a mustang same trim level and take it to the drag strip you are going to ask yourself why can't you get a 12.3 like Stangmode got in the video and the explanation is that Stanmode's car technically is not stock anymore. That new tire provides an advantage to his car. It would've been much better to get the car completely stock to the drag strip to see what it does.

you kidding right ? you are aware that because of stricter emissions regulations it forced manufactures to make more efficient vehicles which also game with the giant benefit of more HP . not sure how old you are but 20 years ago a muscle car only came with 200-300 hp and got TERRIBLE gas mileage, plus at time you could almost always except your engine would let go around 100k miles, now you get cars breaking 250-350k all day long without issues. gotta look at the benefits of some of this stuff vs the cons, also us cars dont sell over seas not because of emissions lol , they just dont like our cars. .@@inyoface1641

The DA when I raced my 2019 GT bone stock was 3500 and the 1-2 shift fucked up for some reason throwing me forward. It still ran a 12.6 @116mph. It would have been probably a low 12 if not for the 1-2 shift hangup. Unfortunately it was crazy busy and I couldn't get another run. That's another thing. IAT's were not good because of the busy AF staging lanes. I'm not seeing a whole lot of hope here so far with the gen 4. 100lbs heavier between gens shouldn't slow it down. It SHOULD be at least 1mph and 1 tenth faster then a 18-20 and 2 mph and 2 tenths faster than a 21-23 car.

Based on what I saw, the extra weight of the S650 negates any added horsepower from intake/induction and active exhaust. I think it would be a driver's between a stock 2018-2023 & stock 2024 Mustang GT in more ideal weather conditions (better DA). I do believe, however, that the 2024 Mustang GT will have its time to shine against the S550 with forced induction, and once aftermarket tuners figured out that new ECU. Just a matter of time...

I bought a 2023 base Mustang GT (all black w/chrome badging) for interstate driving. I do IT consulting. The car has been a dream. Good power for passing and maintains 80 mph for 14 hours straight with no drama. I don't do burnouts or race at stoplights so my use case is much different than the "kids". I'm guessing the aftermarket and owners will unlock the car's street cred.

Has anyone here considered that the motor has not been broken in yet? I dought stangmode has already put 1000 miles on it yet but he drag raced it anyway. When he drag races it again after it's broken in with an x-pipe replacing the restrictive midpipe and a rear wing for some down force the car will rock.

Mr Stangmode if you remember correctly your first time to the track in Mamba you went home with a 12.49 at 119 MPH time slip not a 12.1! But seriously you should have never put a drag radial on this car! These cars in stock trim 3.15 or 3.55 don’t leave that aggressively and usually hook the stock tires all season or max performance summer tires. Also a 20 inch wheel vs 19 inch (Mamba) is also a negative! Besides that you took the stock 27.6 inch tire off and put a heavier 28.7 inch tire on and the results are as expected! Of course it’s going to be slower then you thought! Now everyone is jumping to conclusions that the 24 is slower and most likely it isn’t! For comparison sake and proof of the results. Justin from AM ran 11.97 @117.90 with 20 inch wheels and 3.55 gears stock AS tires and Drag radials slowed his car down to 12.30’s at 116 MPH you can see the video that’s why I’m referencing it! If you look at Motor Trend who dyno'd a crate 2018 GT motor, it was actually rated at 496HP. A 2021 A10 with 3.55 gears does 11.9 quarter mile stock!

I was hoping that we would see a return of pushrod engines in the new mustangs. The new 7.3 and 6.8 in the super dutys are really awesome engines and ford has shown they can make a great pushrod engine still

Ya you get the cheapest 2024 gt so you can mod it like crazy to go fast. I think its decent plus lots of unknowns to make it go faster. For those disappointed with these stock numbers you can at least get the dark horse but prepare to pay more.
