1983,84 Hollywood and London went all out with the nuclear war fear movies and miniseries to try and sway the Reagan reelection and get rid of Thatcher. The whole project backfired. Reagan with his There's a Bear in the Woods campaign strategy won all but one state and DC in the election. Thatcher was solidly there till the 90s. People seem to ultimately know when the propaganda gets too intense that the real fear is likely the perpetrators of the propaganda. Hollywood is typically exact backward in their predictions...for instance LBJ to stop Goldwater from starting a war in Asia....6 months after his election LBJ had us in the Vietnam War.

I was 23 years old when I first saw the movie but I rented it when my four kids were little and they were concerned but actually didn’t freak out over it, which was good. I explained to them that we’ve been in scary situations before where we were close to nuclear war but told them that we just need to hope and pray no one is crazy enough to do such a thing. It’s not like we’re not aware, just hoping it never happens.

I was with a nuclear missile regiment serving in west germany from 73 to just before the wall came down. Most of us agreed we would not like to be survivors if it came to nuclear war, even with the advantage of being armed, and trained in survival our chances would have still been pretty slim. So it was a morphine overdose and good-night Vienna.

When I was a 10yr old living in America, Jaws came out it scared the heck out of me. I said I would never swim in the ocean again. That was nothing compared to what terror the mainstream TV broadcast of 'The Day After' induced in me. We used to do 3 emergency drills in school preparing for fire, tornado and nuclear strike. We can choose not to swim in shark infested waters but have no control over the potential of nuclear holocaust or the politics that may bring it down on us.😟

Anything remotely left would be full of radiation. Zombies may be around but they die within days. So i don’t see how anything would survive. This would go on 60-200 years . I watched Threads when I saw a clip of it and had a thing for Nuclear War movies. I've also watched The Day After this is a clip from that movie not threads. I've even seen World War3 they are all good movies and have clips of what Norad in the Cheyenne Mountain Complex in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado Springs which is known as our Nations Top Secret Military Alert Bases in our Government. Red Stone Military Base in Huntsville Alabama is another Top Secret Military Alert Base in the United States.
