@9:50 its a carrom board. The game of carrom is played on a square wooden board with four corner pockets and is played by flicking/hitting a “striker” disc with one’s fingers at the target pieces/pucks (smaller pieces) or carrom “men”.

Nuwara Eliya is a city in the hill country of the Central Province, Sri Lanka. Its name means "city on the plain (table land)" or "city of light". The city is the administrative capital of Nuwara Eliya District, with a picturesque landscape and temperate climate. It is at an altitude of 1,868 m (6,128 ft) and is considered to be the most important location for tea production in Sri Lanka. The city is overlooked by Pidurutalagala, the tallest mountain in Sri Lanka. Nuwara Eliya is known for its temperate, cool climate - the coolest area in Sri Lanka. So its not like down south.. SRILANKA have somany different temperates...and Nuwara Eliya is always in cold...

Great video! I was really amused by seeing the way you pronounce "machan" :) As you have already picked up it is more or less equivalent to "mate". But in Sri Lanka, it's mostly used by young men or a male friend to a male friend. But men normally don't use "machan" to some one who looks a bit older than them as a respect.

You would have stop at the tea pluckers spot and talk with them. I know it is hard when you are starving and no energy. That game is called Carrom between 2 parties. (White and black) the one who able to spot quickly all the black or white coins (depending on your party) and red coin is the winner. very popular indoor game in South countries. Specially India.
