One of my favourite multi and single player games on the Amiga. I go through all modes and get max points on easy and medium, while not doing bad on hard.
The only things that bug me with this game are how the stages with consecutive jumps are incredibly difficult if you have anything passed the first engine upgrade, and also how the CPU cheats. If the CPU skips any part of the track due being knocked by another car their lap is still counted. There is one level where if the CPU gets destroyed by a train, practically most laps, they spawn and skip a whole section of track. On this track you're more likely to win if you just destroy all your opponents then race. -

People don't realize how amazing this game was , the whole feel to it the atmosphere was brilliant.. the small game developers were the best , why cant they put these games on ps5 as old classics?

Absolutely loved this game as a kid and was so pleased to see it included on the A500 Mini. To get to play this still today brings a huge smile to my face. Oh, and that music! Nostalgia overload!

A Amiga classic :) I truly wished that the games developed by "Magnetic Fields", like Lotus Turbo Challenge 2 and this get an modern console collection. Turrican games got that treatment.

Trade: Front Missile: Shoots 2 missiles from the front, damaging any unlucky opponent ahead with a double shot Rear Missile: Shoots 2 missiles from the back, damaging any unlucky opponent behind with a double shot Homing Missile: Flies around the track in the middle lane until hitting another car Super Missile: Circle around the car, acting as on Offence Weapon, but only for a few seconds Mine: Plants an obstacle on the road to damage any nearby opponents Armour: The strength determines how much damage it will withstand Battering Ram: Damages any opponents you are ramming Engine: Increases the car's top speed, but lack in handling Nitro: Temporarly speed boost(never seen it used once)

I like how that car is actually modeled after an Alfa Romeo SZ Zagato and there is a picture of a Cizeta Moroder. Yet I see Lotus on the credits :P

I preferred super cars 1 as a kid, probably because of the music/brighter colours/more sfx and your car upgrades cooler. This one seems dull (colour wise) but vs the first one it's much more playable- no need to fix your tyres and annoying stuff like that as often as the first, also the tracks seem nicer in this one and your car does not expand to gigantic proportions. pros/cons I guess. Maybe it's something like, 1 had more personality, 2 was more playable

I played the original a lot but don't think I ever saw Super Cars II. Now I can see why. although neither version was great. I think I liked the music of the original better than the game.

I still have to find a better game than this one in the genre. Death Rally was really nice but not clearly better.

This has a characteristic Amiga nostalgic cheesy feel to it, but I think DR was overall better. The pseudo 3D gives much better sense of speed. And who doesn't appreciate a bonus from the Grim Reaper for a track well done?

@@tobiasra1 Yeah, I didn't mean to undermine Death Rally's quality. It's an excellent game. I enjoyed both Super Cars II and Death Rally a lot and their gameplay is quite different. Missiles and respawn VS Chaingun and smaller health bar.
