Yes, 'the Dutch name 'Floor' derives from the French 'Fleur' which is also the root for the English word flower. It's always funny when English speaking people struggle with pronouncing her name assuming that it can't possibly be just the way they say 'floor' :-)

Whereas Florence in English speaking countries is more predominantly used in the masculine form -- a more notable exception is Florence Nightingale. The Dutch usage of the proper noun Floor however is generally used for feminine names in the Netherlands. There too however there are men that are called Floor.

I don't think many English speakers -- or Dutch for that matter -- realize how closely related they are. Frisian is in fact linguistically the most closest language to English, with Dutch and German being a 2nd and 3rd.

You mentioned how powerful it is that the band can just hold out the mic and 82,000 people sing along, how it changed their lives Yeah about that, check my name here, it's 100% modeled after their song we just heard "Amaranth." I was the first Nighwish song I ever heard, and up until that point all I listened to was "radio top 40" stuff. It was a new world for me, just one of those moments where instantly the sky splits open and you see the rest of the universe. And then I actually looked up the lyrics, and I was just so done with everything else. The name itself, "Amaranth," is a symbolic flower in fantasy; signifying undying and eternal beauty, among other things. In the real world, Amaranth is a ridiculously healthy grain that has varying degrees of medicinal value, among which is curing migraines, which I have always suffered greatly from. That kind of multi-layered, infinitely personal meaning and depth that allows me to make each of their songs uniquely my own is what Nightwish does for every single one of their fans, and why they are cut from a different cloth than other bands. Every single one of those 82,000 people was listening to "their" song, and there is a spiritual connection that we all have to the band and to each other because of that. When you say their music is life changing, that's quite literally true. Thank you!

I have long asserted that the electronics we need to live in this fast paced world know when we are stressed, and choose to breakdown to see if our heads will explode! Seriously, I, too, am brand new to symphonic metal and most specifically, Nightwish! Metal is far from my musical history, but Nightwish is a special breed of their own, and they imbue so many different techniques and genres in their music that seduces all who listen. Am a HUGE Nightwish fan now, and every listen brings me deeper into all the components of each song. Keep reviewing!

And for that matter the whole album)) The bull horn thing is a logo of the Wacken open-air ;) Guitarist is Emppu; Marco is the bass player. Floor is Dutch, her name (I guess) can be translated to English as Flower (like French Florentia). If you love instrumental music, you absolutely gotta listen to "All The Works Of Nature Which Adorn The World" from the 2nd CD of Nightwish's latest album!! It got split into 8 parts for the disc but is a single, 30+ minutes mostly instrumental masterpiece (despite some spoken and choir parts). You'd definitely enjoy this one!

That symbol/Logo is WOA logo, Wacken Open Air. Not sure if it's been since beginning of this concert venue from way back when. Just love the idea that normally that town has some 2000 residence and once a year 100k people march and rock out for 3 or 4 days. Must be a huge revenue for the that town.

more to go yes. after this you have tampere or wembley 2015. maybe wembley so you get both "epics" poeth and the pendulum/ greatest show on earth. sure tampere version of greatest show is the preffered one. they have almost the same setlist but notable difference is that tampere doesn't have the poet. then you have the buenos aires 2018 and after that the new album. so much content left! 🤘

I like the comments about the multiple keyboards. I've played keyboard in a number of musicals, where I've had two keyboards with many different sounds. It is sometimes challenging to keep track of what sound to use on what keyboard, especially when you have to change it in a matter of seconds. I have pressed the wrong button in rehearsals and it is not fun.

As far as the "cherry, mean", and more sayings local to you, I think it's a polynesian thing. I'm Cook Island descent from New Zealand and we do the same thing. in fact we use "mean" a lot as well, though we tend to add "as" to it. For instance your reviews are "mean as"!!! We use the word "choice" similarly to the way you use "cherry". As in Nightwish | Wacken Open Air 2013 is a choice concert. And we love to say "Sweet as", too. Chur Bro!!! ( Chur being our pretty much universal, cool, awesome, hello, goodbye, etc, word). 😁

You say you like occasionally listening to just orchestrated instrumentals without lyrics. Then you might want to look into some of Nightwish's later studio albums which contain a bonus CD with just the London Symphony Orchestra's background of each of the songs without the vocals or metal band. They are cool!
