Crash, thank you so much for summarizing my thoughts on _Will of the People._ Matt Bellamy has said that he does not like far-right groups claiming his music and doesn't support them, but the issue is that his political messaging has become so vague over the years that _anyone_ could claim it. You'd think that the solution would be to do the opposite, make the music _less_ vague and more specific? It sucks, too, that Muse used to be my favorite band and I used to have to defend myself for liking them, but they've spent the past seven years trying their best to prove the haters right.

It pains me too. Their earlier stuff is soooo good and we all KNOW they're capable of better. I just don't know what the lads need to do to recalibrate at this point. I don't take comfort in "dogging them", but man, it's been a long downhill slope for nearly a decade now. Ya gotta call em how ya see em. 😵‍💫

WARNING: MASSIVE SPOILER ALERT FOR THE #6 SPOT Thank God you included that one here. That one was my #1 worst (tied with MGK), and I say it as a former fan of this band/artist, and I think this album in particular finally cemented a theory that I had been workshopping since 2020 when all the controversy against the guy started to really become relevant for once. This is gonna be a very weird one, but I finally have the perfect opportunity to share it. Brendon Urie is officially the Doug Walker of pop rock. Both started in the mid-2000s and got famous through the association of a close friend who was already top of the game at the time (Pete Wentz/James Rolfe), but then once that moment came when their projects were supposed to be done, they ended up reviving them in ways that would cause both the quality of their work and their credibility as people to have a very steady decline over time, not really helped by their heavy reliance on bringing in outside resources in order to put anything out these days. Not to mention, the really dark abuse cases that have happened involving higher-ups from behind the scenes who have committed heinous crimes against all the clients who worked for their professions (Zack Cloud Hall/Mike Michaud) and being revealed to have sheltered some very obscure, but very infamous sexual predators (Kenny Harris/JewWario) to the point where all the band members/content creators who worked for them finally had it and left for much superior projects on their own terms. Thus, with everything almost seeming like the beginning of the end (Pray for the Wicked/To Boldly Flee) for them, all their problematic actions finally got the best of them, and they put out painfully unlistenable albums containing a bunch of ear-piercing shrill vocals, sub-mediocre pastiches of classic rock legends, and an unignorable aura of misanthropic apathy and violent bitterness towards anyone who tries to hold an inkling of any form of accountability for all the harm they've caused to others (Viva Las Vengeance/The Wall). Yet somehow, through all of it, the diehards are still there, still trying to stand their ground and deny how far their heroes have fallen just because they did so much for their respective fields, but as the years go by, the less the content holds up, and the more you really feel the secondhand embarrassment for those fans who keep lying to themselves about how much need there is for Panic!/NC in this day and age. With that being said, I feel like it's time we put Brendon in the place where he and Doug both belong; left behind to waste away in the Bin.

Wouldn't necessarily agree with that take. I'm not a massive PATD! fan or anything but for all the controversy surrounding Urie, it seems that he's at least trying to better himself as a person after saying/doing many questionable things (unlike you-know-who). Sure, you can say whatever you want to about his music or ego, but I feel a lot of the drama is based off of false or exaggerated information. To be clear, I absolutely do not condone the things he has said in the past, but I don't think that makes him a truly awful human being. However, I totally get it if people don't feel like supporting him anymore. That being said, I feel we should at least give people a chance to grow as a person rather than trying to throw them under the bus for crap they did years ago. A lot of people forget that he raised a ton of money for charity towards the LGBTQ community. He also has apologized for a lot of the stuff he's said over the years on his Twitch streams and knows that he needs to hold himself accountable. When we dig up dirt from someone's past, we fail to see the good they've done over the years since we're so focused on the negative. As cliché as this is, nobody's perfect and we've all made plenty of mistakes in life. Still, there's no shame in wanting to leave Brendon Urie and his band behind and I understand if someone feels uncomfortable listening to PATD! now.

Walker still has actual talent though, some of his videos are still pretty damn good(his video tearing about Nutcracker 3-D is one of my all-time faves) Urie though, any talent he had is LONG dead and buried. Don't feel embarrassed for me at all for still liking NC, I feel embarrassed more for people that are so obsessed with trying to "convert" NC fans over to their side. Also Doug did not in fact "Shelter" Jew Wario at all, they had no idea what he did until after his death and his victims specifically asked CA NOT to make the JW thing public as they were afraid of his fans targeting them(a fear that was well-founded as on the CA sub-reddit one of his victims actually did an AMA and while most people were very respectful towards her there were still a few assholes casting doubt on her story and victim-blaming her)granted CA should've told the other members of CA behind the scenes so they didn't end up doing tributes to a predator.

Tbh, 2022 hasnt been that bad for music. Really the bad stuff this year theme wise to me at least was just more so a case accidental missteps of the artist falling into boring territory. Like they tried- But they still failed but we should give a D+ for effort. But then again, the mighty have fallen to a geat degree, but it feels accidental to me. Wasnt like last year where it was just a case "You should know better" and making utterly boring music purely to spite the fans or really they never had a chance to begin with

Personally, I like how cheesy it is. Ghost is campy as hell and I like them having fun with it; twenties is really the only song I can't defend, even though I have a soft spot for it. I saw a clip years ago, where Raine is explaining Canada's music system. Nickleback killed their chances for a USA crossover. They played nice for years. I think it's worth mentioning that pretty much all of the bitterness on The Family is aimed at social media like twitter and tiktok where outright lies about them spread about them and kindof killed any momentum they'd get from Ginger onward. Kevin seems to be on pretty good terms with everyone for the most part, they moreso just grew apart after the breakup, no full blown drama really stuck. I think the biggest drama was Kevin wanted to release the album they lost when Ameer got kicked to coincide with the original final album they were recording and fulfill the two albums they owed RCA but Dom (and maybe a few others) didn't want it out at all, or at least didn't want Ameer's verses to still be on it. Kevin wanting to be on good terms with both Dom and Ameer eventually just dropped the whole thing and that's probably one reason "The Family" exists. Another thing I think is worth noting is that Brockhampton was supposed to remain a collective after their final album but something happend to both kill the making of the OG final album and actually end the group for good, that's what lead to Kevin and Bearface making "The Family" without any other members, as I like to put it: "The Family" IS a Brockhampton album, it's just Kevin was the only member left at the time of recording.

Spoilers for no. 5 on this list Hey, so I'm actually a big fan of the family, and I just wanted to say that I completely feel you on the bitterness. I really like the production and how secretly hooky it can be, but I completely understand if you take one look at Kevin's depressing drunk filled mess, and nope out. I just got hooked in by something on this, and I can just picture this bojack horseman moment where a drunk Kevin Abstract is crashing this goodbye celebration by stealing the microphone, and complaining about how much he's hated the band since his abusive friend got kicked out. It's just so revealing about Kevin Abstract as a person, and I just got used to the idea that everything in this record is fleeting, every moment can be snuffed out and seem into the general malaise that is substance addiction. This project actually got me interested for how the next Kevin abstract project will turn out. Like will he show change? further seep into his horrible habits? I genuinely have no idea, and I'm excited to see what's next

In defense of THE CAR's production "letdown", it really feels like 1970s prod, this was probably the goal here... the Tranquility base lounge prod is really modern, sounds big. The Car seems to be a move into the retro feeling production wise. Not bad at all, hadn't listened to it, sld a couple in store, but AM fans are not head over heels at the store I work at.

I'll say it again here as I did on ARTV's worst-of-the-year list: I wanted to like Will of the People so badly, but man was it probably the most disappointing album for me. Kill or be Killed is the best song on that album and it doesn't even reach the heights as something like New Born or Stockholm Syndrome. Most of the albums on your list I either forgot about or straight up didn't know were released. I guess I do a pretty good job at avoiding bad/disappointing music.

Apparently the last two NOFX albums were conceived of as one album, but then they split it into two for whatever reason. It's why they were titled Single Album and Double Album. They turned one shitty album into two shitty albums.

I spend too much time on pretentious online music websites and no one there likes Oliver Tree, they really hate him. I hate saying this but its music for people who don't like music, but have a really bad sense of humour like the songs are pop/rock/hip hop/country songs for people who think they're too good for those genres and are so far up their own asses they cant actually notice when it just smells like poop.

Eh, only problem with that is that there not much to say there. Here's the quick version: Start at Spiritual Machines I and work backwards. There's your Must Hears. Next Steps is Gravity, their first record without Mike Turner. It's good, but it's basically "the beginning of the end" and they'll never sound this good again. Everything else... Eh, it's basically Proceed with Caution. I kinda like Burn Burn because it's got some good slower tracks on it so maybe I'd throw that one in Deep Digging, but I don't think most folks would be terribly impressed. OLP are one of those bands with a CLEAR cut off point and that point is SM1. You don't really need to hear anything else and like... There's not much of a story to tell. They just got flabby and boring over time.

My dude, same. I've loved music my whole life, and it was just frustrating this year. Ok. I'm not getting tik tok ever because of the way it tracks your data. But that's where a lot of big hits came from. I watch these channels because it's my only way, literly only way to get any music that may or not be trending on there. End result: I felt very out of the crowd this year. I'm not one for following other crowds, but maaaan it was a bad year for me to feel it. I've been lonely as hell as of lately. I've got my peers but lately they've been off doing their own thing. I Dated around a little for the first time in a while, MAN that was a trainwreck. Woulda been a good time for music? Nah, the music made me feel more lonely because everyone was getting these fairytale relationships or they remind me how fucked up my experience felt. Tldr. 2022 was even worse for me. Why would next year be any better? I keep hope, but what's the point? Also, your channel makes me feel less lonely. Thanks for making this content!

@@mycity7590Nah, I just feel left out. It's less of a "why do they have it" and more of a "why can't I have it." It's been amplified by just plain loneliness and unfurfillment. I just feel more connected with my peers when I, at the very least try out or indulge in what they like. Hard when you don't use that app these days. And I'd already have enough data out there. Don't need more.

I thought double album was marginally better than single album, but that being said, not a very high bar lol. I feel like if Nofx would’ve retired right after First Ditch Effort, they would’ve went out on a much better note, especially when you count what Mike said in Vegas in 2017-18 (can’t really remember). The past 5 years have not been great to Nofx, but it’s pretty much all their fault.

Interpol have been on a downward spiral since Our Love to Admire for me. I also did not care for Impera. Neither the doom laden vibes of Ghost's earlier work, nor the hook laden fun of the better tracks from Prequelle and Seven Inches of Satanic Panic. Personally I bounced right off of The Unravelling of PUPTHEBAND. I felt Morbid Stuff was a bit uneven but it broadly do the Pup thing that was so good on the self titled and The Dream is Over. Unravelling loses sight of that, lacking the breakneck hooks or sweet harmonies from those albums.
