The area brings back memories, Ventura/Ojai was my first proper visit to the US as a Brit back in the early 90's. Training on a software product produced in Ojai. A small company, where the mother of one of the staff cooked delicious Italian food for the staff canteen as a daily buffet. It set my 'default' impression for the US for many years to come. I have travelled a lot since then, but when I think America, the place that comes to mind is still Ojai.

That was so fun to watch! I hang in Ventura, live in Oxnard, work at the Port Hueneme military base (with the shooting, pew pew) ride protrero road where Phil starts his Fondos AND I just did Pine Mountain this last weekend on Saturday for the first time. Thanks for making this video just for me Phil! 😁👍

Right on, Phil, for making your fondo hard out of the gate. That's the way I like it because when I'm paying real money to ride on public roads, I don't wanna take it easy. I truly enjoy the communal experience of riding with fellow real riders, but I want the route to be worthy of the expense, the kind where you stop at 7-Eleven afterwards for a giant Slurpee and a think about things.

See Phil-No matter how disappointed one is, a nice scenic cruise like you did after the DNF-One always feels better. That is why I still get out and ride ( I´m 75 and I ride in terrible weather in Denmark). Enjoyed this episode very much!

Thanks for the great content Phil. Is there any way your mapping / GIS sponsor could help you get map overlay for the corner of your videos? I often think that when watching your route description videos as it is hard to work out what is where. Keep up the good work. 👍

I rode Hwy 33 once (to the top, like 30 miles) a few years back - after getting passed by 3 motorcycles doing 120+ mph around a blind curve (I could've reached out with my hand and touched them as they leaned into me), never again on a weekend.

Rode 33 a couple of weeks ago on my motorcycle. Lots of bicycle riders on it, which was surprising because 33 is a really bad road to ride a bike on. Angeles Crest Highway is barely tolerable because it at least has a little asphalt to the right of the fog line, but 33 has no room on the right. You're basically trusting that drivers doing freeway speeds will slow down to gingerly get around you.

Ha I’m in Thousand Oaks, I’m in Ventura all the time. I ride the Santa Monica’s almost daily :-) . Potrero I ride that at 3-4 in the morning before work. That’s a nice piece, but then After hidden valley, it’s time to climb decker canyon, thats some serious fun.

Hello Mr. Gaimon. Great video as always. One question though : why do you wear normal sunglasses while cycling ? Is it just a personal preference thing or is there a practical benefit from it ? Thanks in advance.

One of his partners is Goodr. Easy to have a ton of pairs when they're $25-35 a pop. Last time I was shopping for shades I tried the Goodr Super Flys; they were comfortable, worked with my preferred helmet/cap position, and at 10-20% the price of the mainstream cycling brands. After a few weeks riding Goodr, snagged a few more color options and haven't looked back.

Very odd observation, but your helmet seems to always fit perfectly with your head- not the usual mushroom or dong tip that just about everyone suffers from while wearing one, regardless of the brand. Forget the incredible power and skill, I’m most impressed by this aesthetically pleasing helmet fit.

I mean, maybe you could hook up a dyno and battery to your indoor training setup to charge your "shifters and stuff". In case that is bothering you. With watt pedals it could still be a pretty good setup, probably not as good as a smart trainer though.

I noticed the Go Pro footage from the car was slanted left. I had the same issue this weekend but only for part of my ride. Those videos also showed up upside down when copied them to my computer. Anyway, I’m wondering if you have a Hero 9 (used with horizon leveling)? Maybe this is a problem with the gyro?

Love the mask Phil XD Did you take CBD to help you sleep and what percentage was it? I'm thinking of trying some but it's pretty pricey where I live (was recommended 24% strength in a little bottle that will last around 2-3 months - £120!!) so interested to hear from others who have had experience with it before taking the plunge.
@KOMHuntTV4 жыл бұрын
Wow 24% is pretty high. I use 5% and 4 drops at a time. It’s the only think that helped he with the pain of a bad neck 👍👍👍 as a new user you could even start off on 2-3% and build up to a stronger percentage. Obviously the higher % the less you need hence the price of the higher % bottles

It is actually refreshing to see you fail, Phil. Because anyone with the worst retirement ever should be a loser who cries the boohoo over never getting any more KOMs or gold plastic trophies. And I grin and cheer your seemingly unlimited opportunities to ride the roads of Southern California. And listen to Ventura Highway on vinyl at the end of the day.
