It's been trained into me that if you are clearing a weapon, rack the slide 3 times before you know it's clear. That way, if you rack the slide once, and a bullet comes out, maybe there was one in the chamber. The 2nd and 3rd time if bullets come out, maybe, just maybe, there is a loaded magazine hidden inside the pistol. lol
