Yeah, it's an interesting idea (working as actors following a loose script and persona essentially), not unlike Amazon's Mechanical Turk (human input replacing or helping AI input, or preprocessing for AI applications) until you read it's another crypto scam, and also Disney workers are exploited and treated like shit, oh, also Mechanical Turk pays shit too, they'd have better luck offering food and lodging (indentured servitude/slavery but you can quit, basically). Yay ideas that sound interesting in theory but will go horribly wrong because Humanity sucks, I guess.

the "ghost jobs" have been a really annoying thing that many of my friends and myself have had to deal with as we are all getting to the age of joining the labor force. Ive seen it discourage many people seeking jobs as they apply to like 30 different places and they dont even reach out to say that they dont need you, they just hold your application and get back to you months later when they're desperate for workers when you've most likely already found a job elsewhere

I honestly think the binge model was always inferior to the weekly model. Specifically because releasing on a weekly basis means everyone is on the same episode so there is more discussion and hype around the show. The more discussion there is, the more people get engaged and in general you feel part of a community (kind of cheesy but true). It also becomes an activity where everyone can get together and watch it once a week. Like the only reason I watched Euphoria was because my friends were doing a watch party every week for it. Watch parties of like 7+ people don’t really happen on the binge model imo.

@@moehasan7534 idk how to tell you this in a way you'll understand but it's literally just more fun. For example, JoJo's bizzare adventure had been airing weekly all the way up until Part 6, where it was put on netflix started releasing it in batches instead. And guess what? Nobody fucking cares. As if Netflix itself isn't already dying, they're butchering one of the most beloved animes of the last decade because they're too lazy not to. At the end of the day, it's just straight up better for something to foster engagement and fan support than for it to be convenient. Them's just the facts.

@@moehasan7534 Yea but internet friends aren't the same. Having the weekly thing means more your in person circle is more likely to watch it together. That's way more fun than random internet strangers. If you just want to watch a show, just wait until its fully released and you can do the same thing. Additionally, if we take it from the company's perspective, the hype and discussion is basically free marketing. Additionally, stranger things most recent season had a of hype because they released it in batches. So community hype was able to build up between part 1 and part 2 releases. So similar idea.

I honestly think the idea of “real” npcs in a vr mmo or something to be pretty dope and a one of a kind gaming experience if done right and by the right people with good morals. I think if a developer of such a game were to give people a little wiggle room to be creative with the npc character they are acting as it could be a really sick game to play, but yeah if done poorly this could be pretty dystopian.

I've paid for our Netflix account for years, since they came to our country. Doing away with releasing every episode at once is far from the worst decision they could make, I hope it helps them return to a sane state of mind, just because they basically invented it doesn't mean they should stick with it. "What will people say?!" is basically a form of the sunken cost fallacy. Placing ads, increasing price, restricting password Sharing that's worse. They've been producing loads of crap, cancelling good shows and didsapointing me in many ways, if they stop failing I'm ok with this. If they go forward with this but fix nothing else... the day I cancel my Netflix subscription I'm never coming back.

As a Mexican in America, I would feel at home if I was playing a blockchain based game, with hundreds of thousands of mothers and fathers working as npc’s, in a desperate attempt to make some more money to feed their children that they could not afford to feed before, but thanks to this game, now they only have to let 2 out of three kids starve to death instead of all three!!! truly warms my heart I really appreciate this whole nft and crypto currencies craze, since it’s safe, has a small amount of scams, it’s community is made up of kind, caring, and open minded individuals, not to mean too , white supremacy and hidden racial messages are nonexistent!! and everyone always gains money and rarely do people lose money, not to mention the fact that it’s environmentally friendly, due to it all being on computers!!!! And I would be so heart warmed if I knew that all of the npc’s, were people that rely only on the hope that I don’t suddenly decide to abandon the game!!! They depend on ME for survival, so it really gives you a sense of power, so if you want to, you can try and get those naggy annoying npc’s with side quests, off of your world, and all of us Cristian non-drug abusers that make up all of the nft community, really have our hearts broken when people aren’t open minded about cryptocurrencies, nft’s, and the metaverse as a whole, we really hope theese ape minded individuals, will someday understand that they’re sinful and destructive behavior is creating festering infections in our wounds in society and Mother Earth as a whole, which even if treated and healed, the scars will never be forgotten, we hope you can understand that nft’s, cryptocurrency’s, and the metaverse, are our only salvation in this desperate period in humanity😢, god bless, and Jesus loves you 😢😢😢😢❤❤❤❤❤❤.

I mean on the netflix going away from whole season posted is really only useful for kdramas and animes, but anime fans has very much hated the "Post it all" system for netflix, because it then ends up being posted much after all the episodes has been released in japan, where when a streaming platform like crunchyroll can post the season episodly at the same time as it drops in japan in netflix you might be forced to wait 3-4 months for the season to be pushed which then gets more people to rather just pirate it over watching it on netflix which in the anime community has been called netflix jail.

The weekly release model doesn’t just work from a monetary stand point, but it allows for better placement of suspense and better avoidance of spoilers. Overall it revives the exciting storytelling that came from cable/satellite tv. So it’s more than just a money grab imo

Besides the subscription piece, binging just sucks. You get so burned out, watercooler discussion is impossible, and the final experience is just not that good, but you can’t choose not to binge unless you avoid the internet entirely for a week (not happening). I enjoy shows way, way more when they’re released episodically. I do think that once a week is too slow, and maybe every three days would be ideal, but weekly still trumps binging.

Cyberpunk actually did a massive brain move. Not ONLY did they release a show so good you have to rewatch it after just finishing it. They ALSO had the biggest Sale on the game they've ever had. So no one would even buy Keys from 3rd party websites. (I'm on of those who bought the gamer after watch it, gotta be honest. Still T-posing in my opening cutscenes ruining the mood but sure as hell is making serious moments hilariously dumb)

Here in Spain, we have a recent Bank ad saying “cringe”. Mind you this is a spanish ad, so It stands out even more as they don’t translate it.

Big A, I know books are for losers and all that but you should read For the Win by Cory Doctorow. It’s about the economy in a world where MMOs dominate and speculators are using them as investment vehicles. The whole 3rd world npc idea crops up, along with RuneScape style gold farming and union shenanigans. Good read, right up your alley.

Working as an npc is no less dehumanizing than working as a minimum wage employee stocking shelves at kmart. Which is to say it's pretty dehumanizing.
