Going to give this recommendation for every modern AAA game. Don't use V-sync! Get a variable refresh panel and set a framerate target either through RTSS or your Nvidia/AMD Control Panel. Then set the graphics as such that the GPU is the bottleneck, and it'll run smooth at whatever framerate the game will be running at. Rendering two outputs of the same geometry (the ghost/natural world), I can imagine that is really taxing. It's basically running double the screen's native output.

Don't listen to all the people hating on this game if you think you may like it. If you have Game Pass you've got nothing to loose. I got the game of Game Pass PC and it's alright. I'm enjoying it and it's actually making me want to play through the Resident Evil 1 remake for the Game Cube. The sound is fantastic and it can be quite atmospheric. The story is the highlight here and if you enjoy narrative driven games you'll probably enjoy it.

I remember some older games having similar camera work, but they solved the disorienting issue by only updating your charcter's movement direction when you actually moved the stick. so, say you're holding left to walk through a screen transition. as long as you keep holding left, your character would continue moving in the same direction (which is now whatever other direction on screen). of course, back then having fixed angles was a thing because it saved massively on environment art and depth/animation. you could have a whole room be just one flat image.

Legacy of Kain: Soul reaver did this dual reality puzzle solving in 1999 on the ps2 (switchable between the two not dual screen) and that is a good story, great combat, and no loading screens throughout a large explorable world. There is a problem with Vsync that causing the game to run like this, disabling in-game Vsync and turning it on from Nvidia control panel fixes this issue. Still outrageous to see a problem like this on a launch title.

The whole switching between realms mechanic was done excellently in Titanfall 2. Bloober is the same dev that made Blair Witch, and that too has a similar mechanic where to bypass obstacles you had to watch the found footage tapes and pause the video at the appropriate time when the obstacle was cleared. Another missed opportunity to improve the game mechanics.
