why is there no feed of this on other platforms? i enjoy your lovely faces as much as the next person, but just a straight audio feed would make it so much easier to listen at work.

So excited for this podcast!! Heaton, you should really read Graham Hancock's books. I found him through his book America Before. Also his and Randall Carlson's interviews on Joe Rogan are definitely worth a watch. The evidence of the comet impacts ending the last ice age ~12,800 and ~11,600 years ago is stacking up!

Empathy does not remove greed. The people who are focused on just one thing would just isolate themselves so they will not have to feel unwanted feelings. Personal flight would not change the freight industry. I like the idea of flight with wings that can come and go. Don't want to have to redesign chairs.

I highly suggest you read the book series The Reckoners by Brandon Sanderson. It's a sci-fi fantasy series of how a lot of people around the world suddenly gain superpowers and are simultaneously corrupted by the power. It's a very interesting perspective of how something like this could impact society for better or worse. Long time fan of the whiskey tribe, hi from Namibia/ Africa.

Teleportation wouldn't kill the transportation industry but it would make it where only plains, trains, and automobiles would move large quantities of freight. until we developed technology to teleport freight long distances. during long hauls you'd be able to have people man the vehicle mid trip go home and all that jazz. Warfare becomes very strange cause the enemy can literally move to be anywhere need be as well as you. I think teleportation is a very interesting thing to think about cause there would have to be caveats to using it cause if you could just move your whole house from Texas to an empty field in the South of France then a lot of energy would have to be expended.

The book at 9:17 is Hyperion by Dan Simmons. Great book, hated the ending.

What if you pushed that button and everyone got something like Compound V from The Boys or an activated Conduit gene from the Infamous-games, and they all survived the process? It would be a lottery for every person, some could teleport, some could turn into kaiju monsters, some could fly, some would be superman and some would turn into smoke and back. What they all would share though, in how powers work both with The Boys and Infamous is that everyone would be stronger, more resilient, and faster than before. It seems like every single Supe and every single Conduit is at almost an MCU Captain America level of strength, but some are a lot stronger. To me, everyone being a little harder to kill, and most having some powers beyond that, evens the playing field. In superhero universes that explore some of the darker sides of such a world, a major problem is how weak normal humans are compared with those who have powers. In a world like I'm proposing, while some would be a lot stronger, like Homelander or The Beast, less powerful Supes/Conduits working together wouldn't be as weak and vulnerable by comparison. I think I'd press the button in such as scenario, but you risk creating some truly godlike Supes/Conduits who would be near impossible to stop and who could snap their fingers and have Earth translocated into a black hole or something. It's a gamble, but I think it might be worth it.

Could you imagine a therapist with the ability to control peoples moods / emotions? A very near and dear example to my heart: on military installations you have on call mental health specialists to respond to the more sensitive emergency room crises. You could have an individual suffering from something such as a post traumatic stress episode or a suicide attempt, and then this superpowered individual walks in and while they may not be able to make the pain go away or make you forget the terrible things, they can at least calm that patient down. Peoples pain is very valid and very real, but being able to help them process their traumas, and making them stronger for working through it, in a healthier way would be a perfect gift.

I'm pretty sure that giving everyone teleportation would result in immediate social collapse. Flight and telepathy would result in a lot of hardship, but I think we would reform society to accommodate that before it fell apart. Teleportation? First day: >50% of all world leaders shot in the back of the head, all bank vaults emptied, power in most major cities knocked out. People often don't realize just how overpowered teleportation is as a superpower, and if you gave it to EVERYONE, unless there were some heavy limitations on distance, cooldown, speed, etc. it would take a very, very small percentage of the population to collapse civilization within a short time. That's not to say we couldn't rebuild from it in time, but the day everyone got teleportation would be an unmitigated catastrophe.

My problem with the flying is the idea that we currently have a way of moving faster then you can just walking, its called running. How many of us actually have the dedication and stamina to run more than a mile or two, and maintain that ability past our twenties? Not a lot of us. So I imagine if we could all fly we would get tired about as quickly, if not quicker then we would running. So would it actually be that useful?

As a fan of Kyle Hill, a lot of superpowers are not great without additional powers. If you have super strength or the ability to fly, without some sort of durability enhancement you would probably become a statistic. Super strength is great. I could lift up the front end of my car but if my bones couldn't handle that extra weight they would just snap. Strength is not durability. If I could fly at let's say 100 mph, without protective gear or some sort of durability power you'd be dead. Maybe I'm overthinking it, maybe the powers that you get in this scenario also give you the finite things to be able to use said powers. But that's just me

Time travel-Would you stop Gavrilo Princip from assassinating archduke Franz Ferdinand? No ww1, ww2, cold War, Korean War, Vietnam, golf War 1 and 2. Or would we just have different wars? If we discovered nuclear energy before nuclear weapons, would we still be afraid of nuclear energy?

Low level Telekinesis would be benificial for everybody. Like you can lift a glass of water and move it at low speeds. Cant lift more than a pound kind of thing

Speaking about books/shows about people getting random "super" powers Misfits is a good British TV series about that idea not as wider scale as this, but some of the powers are strange like touching someone makes them uncontrollably want to have sex with you.

Personal power is super charisma Everyone power I think empathy is good. It doesn’t solve for ethics and morals but it does make it harder to be a dick when you empathize. Maybe Batman/Tony Stark super intelligence/ingenuity would be cool. We all would have the intellect and the ability to see and solve the problems we face in the world instead of relying on those with power and money. Granted even then, that doesn’t solve for assholes.
