WOW! The Penguin Episode 1 Review - Our DC Review

I give it a 9 best cbm pilot I have seen in a long time , Also the fact that Reeves changed the penguins name to oz Cobb (because its elseworld I'm ok with it ) and because this connects this version of penguin to the court of owls which is literally amazing because it slowly peels the layers back untill we get full on reveal of the court of owl in hopefully the very last batman film . Also in the comics the name " COBB " IS A NAme of a court of owls talon named William cobb. so this connects penguin to the court of owls way which is very interesting

This first episode was epic.I didn't really get the filler vibes complaint.But as you said you got accustom with the MCU shows,which has detrimental to some people.Who has short attention spans.The MCU has ruined the enjoyment of long and prolific storytelling movies.

I really was quite impressed by this first episode, from beginning to end. I never imagined the creators of a Penguin mobster story would be responsible for giving me a Dolly Parton musical earworm, but i loved them for it💀

Here's some shows I want in the bat-verse Arkham Asylum-This show is needed for sure Catwoman- Explore her origins with carmine and her going on several missions etc it would be pretty good.

Looking forward to this new playlist. As for the pilot, it's great how you can go from watching The Batman right into this, like turning the next page in a comic book. Much like Watchmen on HBO a few years ago, I think this network just fits the more mature DC projects. Cristin Milioti is already killing it as Sofia Falcone and I can't wait to see more of that darker side during her time in Arkham. Also, did you happen to scan that QR code from that Riddler passenger on the train?

Thought that was a great pilot to this show. Those “slower” moments gives the show nuance. Makes the characters feel more real. Then, if you can also tie them in to the story like Vince Gilligan does so well you have the chance of something really special. Anxious to see more.

The Penguin episode one was a really good start to the show. The beginning was beautiful. The death of Alberto was shocking and we can see how much of an ego Oz really has. Victor was a great addition as he adds some humanity to the show. Sofia was a scary and ruthless antagonist and the predicament Oz put himself in made me fear for his life.

About Batman being absent - a newspaper page shows a cartoon which suggests that GCPD have been lighting up the signal for a few weeks but Batman isn't showing up. Also the way The Batman ended with Bruce deciding to be more of a hopeful symbol than a feared one, he might be on hiatus, rethinking his strategy and how to implement the change, maybe even away from Gotham.

I said this in a different app and now I’m gonna say this over here me personally I thought the first episode of the penguin was phenomenal and I was in awe with Farrell & Milioti performances and I thought the actor who played Vic was great. If this series continues to be like the first episode for me this is gonna be my favorite comic book tv show adaptation ever made.

I really loved The Penguin! It feels so weird that why this amazing show isn't part of DCU. But James Gunn has so much emphasised that this is the "first DC Studios production" it makes me wonder (hope) that this gem of a show and this gritty Gotham is part of the larger DCU.

It's not part of the DCU because, as Matt Reeves has made perfectly clear, his very grounded vision for his "Batman Epic Crime Saga" as he calls it does not fit into the superpowed fantastical world of the DCU. That's how Reeves wants it and Gunn respects his creative choices and vision. I wouldn't get my hopes up for that to change. People must remember that DC Studios as a production company is not just in charge of overseeing the projects falling under the DCU banner but also those projects under the Elseworlds banner, which includes Matt Reeves' projects.
