@@christophersmith9074 Only when you're doing a full secondary build, which you shouldn't. Preussen is an overall better package when you're doing a full-gun build or even a hybrid. People really underestimate 457mm guns with a 21-second reload (it gets even lower with CQC).

Flamu forgot to mention regarding S-Tier St.Vincent. If ytou use Cunningham (which you REALLY should) you also get another extra super heal after 2 kills AND faster reload after Witherer which you can get in your sleep in this ship.

After years of playing on/off I finally got enough steel to buy another ship and though I am a DD enjoyer for sure, since I already got Bourg I think I'm gonna get Incomp, happy to hear you think it's a decent ship but I'm just worried about CV spotting

It's fine if you know how to play around being spotted, biggest danger will always be long range gunfire

Pretty much agree with most of the tier list. The most annoying BBs to play against are the low concealment ones. The bottom tier BBs are mostly pinatas, although they do get some deck and upper belt armor to make death slower. And some ships are just annoying to deal with even though they don't usually win games (e.g. Conq).

I was thinking exactly the same thing between thunderer and st. vincent HE shell damage and penetration difference until i realize the shell type is not same. One is saying 457mm HE MkII, other is saying 457mm HE MkIIa. So it’s similar to soviet cruiser gun differences like nevsky-donskoi or donskoi-tallinn. Same caliber soviet guns but fire chance, AP and HE damage per shell is different for each.

Because the intended role for St.Vincent is leaning toward flanking and/or ambush enemy with good maneuverability like the Incomparable. Not to be DPM based battleship and commiting arson. WG just overdo it too much on everything else that it has good range ( 20km-ish. As far as Preussen ), fast rudder and acceleration ( For maneuver in close quater battle. Where it supposed to be )

@@volknetai.3690 yeah but HE shells are still punching and they are starting fires like the enemy ships were soaked into gasoline before the battle. I know this is not a ship to be designed as an HE spammer, but it fits in that role too because of stupidly high fire chance percentage per shell.

Just use free xp to get the Vermont. Kansas and Minnesota are not fun at all to play. Their guns do not perform well enough to justify a long reload and being painfully slow

Repub needs a serious accuracy buff. One shot can be a laser and the next shot has a spread that goes outside your FOV. Ive always been tempted to get the Leg mod and just play it as a “fuck it” brawler to murder DDs and cruisers with

Republique can’t brawl because armor is 32mm everywhere, meanwhile it’ll suffer from HE and SAP raw damages among with burning and floating while brawling. Also republique leg mod is underwhelming because it decreases your range too much, in some situations you have to maintain your distance to enemy nowadays no matter the ship you play. So you need range too. You will see this when you manage to get the leg mod and will be just running with regular reload mod.

It’s hard to rank each ship because it depends what the match up is more often than not. Also depends on how the engagement is taking place. Cover, distance/range and are they bow in or etc

420 dank gun GK is actually my go-to BB, buffed its heal a while back, it does really well. As a gun bb, not secondary.

I agree with what you say about Mecklen. It's for sure one of those heavily misused ships that sadly attract mostly SEA bads. It has fast and accurate shells with a huge volume, its AP is amazing at broadside cruisers--very reliably gets devstrikes but sadly 99% of the time they spam HE in spawn. Waste of a ship!

At SEA, I hate this ship so much. I'm a BB main so seeing one of these in a match means I'm pretty much expecting non stop dot damage. SEA is a long range slugfest since any aggressive movement paints a target on your back. Most of the time the enemy cv joins in as well and since your teammate will most likely kite first, you better hope that your team's long range HE spam is better than the enemy.

SEA players on average have incredibly high stats on every server when you take into account how small their region is. There's a difference between SEA spawn camping and the potatoes cruising the border on other servers- those SEA players can _aim._ And in the hands of one of them, Mecklenburg goes from a slightly annoying shell spammer to a genuinely infuriating experience that usually leaves you on multiple fires with half your health gone.

This is why SEA is the boring 20 minute every match snoozefest and why they SEA players usually leave their own server to then infest and ruin other servers with their stat-padding behaviour. No coincidence these players are the worst in CB too. They crumple under the slightest bit of pressure. Awful players that "look good" with their stat-padding.

@@Dropbare As much as I hate to admit it, it just works. Winning aggressive games with a hyper defensive server is so bad to play that unless required I just play ranked these days. Why push when the sub, cv, and every other ship with actual long range performance kills you on the spot once you are inevitably spotted one way or the other? You actively have to fight your team and the enemy team at the same time most of the time, a regular player can only take so much before they crumple under the pressure and either quit the game or go long range spam as well. Add to the fact that basic communication is pretty much impossible unless you understand at least 3-5 languages is just too much to reasonably ask.

Good vid. I noticed Bungo has AP shells are LIGHTER than the HE, which NEVER happens in history or any other BB in the game (I think?). That lack of mass means pen REALLY suffers. It's going to be an HE spammer. I also think you underrate mecklen. You said "need to push to be useful." The Mecklen is better at pushing than Slava or Shika. It's pretty strong on broadsides with AP, and the accuracy makes it a major CA killer. I'd take it and Bourgogne before Incomp. Not a Monty fan when I have others more fun, but playing against them, seems like it needs to go up one tier, too.

this is exactly the reason I didnt want things like airship escort in randoms. In those sorts of modes the german bbs are way more fun and useful. There is absolutely no fing way I would take a preussen or gk into randoms on SEA in the hope I get that mode. Incomp, whilst the guns are fun is also a major issue in randoms given the number of CVs, non-existent AA, plus CV and sub spotting making your conceal useless - you just get focussed and flattened. St Vincent on the other hand is just friggin awesome and have always loved bourgogne - even though the guns dont overmatch.

I think Republic is one of my favorite shops. You can harass like crazy, have the opportunity to hit a lot of sides you shouldn't have the reload for, etc

IMO, you've a good speed, a good range, but guns lack of power and accuracy. Plus you've no radar or boost, that makes Republique really boring to play. It's an old design, that still works, but are far from being really fun to play (a bit similar to sniper yamato/montana).

I pretty much agree with the list as you made it but I do think Preussen got a bad deal. Yeah the gun accuracy can be poor but that reload with 30mm overmatch plus those secondary guns make it a bit of a monster when pushing. I would have put it in C a least but that's just me.

I feel like a crazy person when I talk about the Mecklenburg. The armour is well, German so you can live a long time if you have hands. But the guns, I love those guns. 16 Agir guns pack one nasty punch with the AP, and your reload is fast enough to burn down anyone smart enough to angle.

On ASIA server, Kremlin is D tier at best. E tier probably because Preussen is much better. Everyone plays at 24km every damn game. Cruisers are almost non existent on SEA when I play (evenings) and every game has a CV, 2 subs and 4 DD's. You need a BB that can hit stuff at 24km range. Meaning Yamato is still A tier and Ohio (for me) is D tier - slow shells. But thats me a very average player with only a 53% win rate solo.

@@dkdragon0 Not a Vermont main but it's really nice to play. That alpha is amazing and the dispersion makes the long reloads count a lot. Just always plan 3 steps ahead on map movement specially if a cv or sub is ingame.

The problem with colombo was it came out when the deadeye skill existed and it was balanced around that, when they removed deadeye they should have buffed its accuracy... would have put Meckleberg in D (stronger D but it's not a shiki or a slava and certainly not a Montana). Wouldn't have put Vermont in a - it doesn't worry me too much, yes the guns need respect but it burns down and eats torps so easily. I'd rank couq higher too - more fire damage overtime than thunderer - it will win in a 1 on 1 burnfest against one. St Vincent is basically the Battleship Admiral Fischer would have built had he been alive another 15 years and escaped the washington naval treaty.

Montana is sounding like a lot more interesting ship with the upcoming commander changes. The heals are great for sustaining fires, and while they are nowhere near British levels, you get one more of them as well as AP that deals damage like nobody's business. So slap FP, ERE, Furious and Super-Heavy AP on it, let that single fire burn forever, and enjoy huge damage output on a BB that already has a great DPM and good alpha as is. Sure, you'll be spotted from the moon, but when wouldn't you be spotted anyway these days? Probably gonna be the second best ship to utilise the "let it burn" skills after St Vincent. Gotta enjoy some old ships getting indirect buffs like this.

Personally I would rank Mecklenburg a lot higher, it is one of the few ships i get consistent good games with and one of the few ships that score 200K+ dmg very regulary. People just need to learn that just because it is lower calibre you should not use HE as the basic ammo. Load AP 70-80% of the time, it slaps hard! even angled bbs, just aim a little higher.

Mecklenburger is a solid C because of the volume of shells it's throwing out. Just start shooting at the start and never stop, you're going to do well until a submarine shotguns you. Monty is a B class ship for sure.

According to the listed penetration of 514mm on shiptool, at 17km, Vermont cannot possibly citadel itself (it has to go thru 500mm of spaced armor at a 15 degree impact angle, making the armor effectively around 550mm+. Something very strange is going on with that quad citadel clip. Was that before the AP pen got nerfed? Because according to current AP pen on Vermont, it should not be able to do what it did in that clip.

The precise math is at 17.4km, Vermont has effectively 503mm of spaced armor, with 507mm of penetration. So....we need to actually revisit our opinion of spaced armor, at it apparently accomplishes nothing unless it affects short fuse shells? Because all of that black hole armor on Vermont effectively contributs less than 5mm of armor value.

Incomp on SEA feels like an easy C tier. Cv's almost every game who spot you and feast on you (with its turning circle some competent cv's will kill you in two or three torp sorties with ease and 90% torp hit rate). That combined with the passive sniping and people retreating the second shells touch their hull makes it hard to get in range or use the benefits the ship has (which are disgusting if you get a no CV game with people who push).

I just came back to the game after a several month break and wondering if I should bother grinding to the Bungo? Also, I might do something wild and get Lauria with steel instead of the Bourgogne. Or maybe Mecklenburg for satisfying accuracy even though Flamu doesn't like it. I have the Jean Bart and the Republique, I feel that's enough with French BB's.

Problem I have with most of these ships is the overpens. Republique should curb stomp a broadside BB or CA. But even with a perfect midships shot I get ether over pens or normal pens. Same with Montana.

Vermont only has great concelment until you fire=free farm. Combine this with the awful speed means that if you don't have good trigger displine and just fire asap vermont will be painful.

Mecklenburg is maybe a mediocre battleship, but as a pure gun platform it is very dangerous. I have probably the highest average dmg rating in her.

Yahh, but it catches fire if you sneeze at it and its like they wash the decks with napalm. It seemed very overpowered when it first came out, especially with how good it's AA is. But again, everyone knows you just lob HE at it and it burns down quickly given it's smallish HP pool. Yes, the guns are accurate, but you spend most of the game managing your repair parties instead just trying to keep it from burning out by halfway through the game.

@@bmvhusky I can see your point and I very much agree you get wrecked by everything, but I don't know, she is just great IMO. You can get anywhere pretty quickly, so you can then wreck unsuspecting targets and thanks to your reload and accuracy you just don't care about rng. Even with her supposed low survivability I am very often surprised with how much potential dmg I have by the end. People just play Mecklenburg incorrectly from afar lobbing HE on BBs or/and just dying prematurely.

The database isn't updated yet, but so far it shows 120k average dmg with 5 battles in randoms which says nothing, but I've had about another 10 or more battles during the weekend with none managing less than that number and about 3 that crossed 200k which again says nothing, I am not a good player, I only have 54% winrate and I have been playing since beta, so yeah. I did use her in some of the previous ranked seasons, so my total battles could be around 50 or so. Still, from what I can muster about the ship, she is comfortable and very reliable.

A good list, I dont agree with Ohio being in B I know its sucky with the ASW Thunderer has the same shitty ASW but for me Ohio is Tier A all day with its great heal cooldown. Question I own virtually every ship in this game after 7 years of play but I havent seen anything about buy the R Lauria, how was it available and I cannot see it anywhere anymore?

RE: Columbo: aww Flolo, you don't need to apologize like 'well this is only my opinion...' It's objectively a terrible ship. Horrible dispersion, horrible reload time, bad concealment, bad range, mediocre speed. The only thing that stands out about it as above average is the armor, but German and Russian have better plus C.C. has a low HP pool. Okay, sure, you can get funny 26k SAP volleys on angled ships very rarely and only at the start of the match before superstructures are de-saturated. That's not a very good niche to occupy. I'd love to learn about the mental gymnasium someone would have to construct to argue in this ships favor. RE: StVincent. I don't know what the fuck they were thinking with its citadel design. Many of the other ships in its techtree line (ESPECIALLY the tier 9 Duncan) have very large, very vulnerable citadels, so they at least have SOME shortcoming. Vincent does not, leaving it as you said: A ship with tremendous strengths and no real weaknesses.

Ruggiero di Lauria is strong as well but nothing more special than standard Italian BB gameplay except accurate 457mm guns with SAP. But it gets easily deleted on every range and guns are underwhelming for most of the time you’re shooting. Incomparable has a stupidly powerful concealment-speedboost-hydro-super heal-torpedo set of gimmicks and 508mm overmatch. Incomparable is basicly winning this duel.

Shikishima is better than legendary mod Yamato. Dispersion is slightly better (232m vs 238m at 26.6km) with a 23.8 second reload vs 30 second reload on Yamato. Couple that with significantly better AA, to the point that it can actually blunt air strikes at times and Shikishima comes off the better ship, at least in my experience.

i cant believe bourgogne and mecklenburg are so low. i feel most confident in bourgogne against all situations, i can run away/down subs & DDs, disengage with the speed, if something angles spam HE for 8-15K per salvo & burn them with a reloadbooster, if u get broadsides punish them with AP. decent AA, very manouverable, compared to other BBs its relatively comfy against CVs and Subs. Mecklenburg might not be particularly tanky but the guns absolutely slap broadside BBs with AP and straight up dev strike cruisers, u can reliably chunk DDs for 5-10K with both HE and AP, good HE pen & fire chance for angled targets, decently fast (37.5 with brisk), decently fast shells, spotter plane, amazing AA with defensive fire (we know how shitty AA is in this game but compared to other meck is a god), actually okay turning circle and ruddershift its.. theyre really good. not exactly tanky but if you play them correctly and know when to kite/retreat and when to push both mecklenburg and bourgogne do soooo much damage, i can outplay pretty much any surface ship(s) in any situation & at least kinda cope with CVs and subs. incredibly versatile ships, theyre really really good (i have like 150K av dmg and 55%/65% WR in each) (not criticizing flamus opinion, just sharing my own :))

especially compared to something like incomparable with its shitty armor (even compared to bourgogne), has way less range, its fucking huge & its AA is atrocious, just 6 guns, shitty shell velocity. incomp is not bad, in certain situations it can smash but its so limited. mecklenburg and bourgogne are just that more versatile and universally powerful compared to incomparable, with can be funny in some situations but just suffers in CV games and against subs, if u get a fire ur concealment blooms, just 3 heals, the turning circle makes dodging sub torpedoes kinda tricky.

I have had the same experience with Meck so far, don't own Bourg yet, but man, Meck is just amazing, you just carry your team through pure dmg. I have had about 25 battles in randoms (I also tried her in some ranked season, but I don't play BBs much in ranked due to shitty DD players) so far and my average dmg, xp and winrate is just rising steadily, now that I have a bit of a grasp how to play her.

Honestly, the only thing I don't really agree with is conquerer, it's not about the damage you put out, yeah its insane, but mostly healable, it's about the amount of punishment you can take, I not rarely Tank 5 enemy ships for 10 minutes or longer while my team kills their team. Yes you don't have the gun power to just smack the living hell out of your opponents, but when you have 4 million potential combined with a consistent 200k and yes I know mostly he and fires. It's still a great contribution

I have good stats with Republic. Flamu is right, that guns dont have consistency. I have game. Enemy DM 12km broadside, 3 full salvos 1, one overpen, 2, 2 overpens, somebody smash him for 40k and my 3, was citadel for 1k, becausebi kill him.

Great list, generally agree with everything but Imo you massively overrate the Preussen. That ship is a sidegrade of the FDG at the best of times and very similarly to Yodo with cruisers, does nothing that some other BB doesn't do way better. I genuinely think that Preussen should not be compared to normal T10 ships. But otherwise the list is great.

Why are there so many OP British BBs? I don't play much but I hoped that all nations are similarly efficient, just different styles. If I'm grinding the IJN line, I would hate to be burnt alive by British BBs simply because of lack of balance, and not difference in skill.

Battleship. It used the same hull, same amour as the Montana. The main difference is that it's superstructure turn into a flight deck. (tho for some reasons, the citadel sit lower compare to Montana)

Unfortunately, in the current meta you need to have at least 30mm overmatch to make it into A. And Montana has also that little rudder speed problem that WG refuse to acknowledge, which makes Monty painful against subs, CVs and basically any sort of torpedo threat. Still a very good ship tho

O.K. I get your point of view. Still "E" class for GK just because you don't like the ship it's unfair under my point of view. Ranked it's plenty of CVs an subs nowadays, so not that far away from randoms anymore, apart from less number of ships that can focus-fire on you at the same time. Accuracy of main guns has improved and I'm frequently getting citadels with its AP, even at long range! Anyway, as I said, this is just my opinion.

St-Vincent torpedoes are really the least argument explaining its power. Low speed, only 1 torpedo per side, stupid launch angles and average to low range. I mean St-Vincent is broken due to its accuracy and high chance of burning target, combined with ok reload time, good tankyness, ok life pool and the super-heal. But torpedoes... comon, it sucks. Its unusual to be at 5 or 6 km from an ennemies, the only range where torpedo is efficient.

Ohio dumpsters on the Vermont, imo. Especially up close. Equal to the Schlieffen in damage, but more health. Just kite it at mid range. Vincent is great, but it's squishy. Doesn't 16" punch through its nose?

@@strykerk992 The thing about the Thunderer is that it's a very stealthy, fast, accurate, long range HE spammer with 18" guns and a good heal. It's a nightmare to push in to or chase down.
