Glad to see you ended up wrapping the header. It made a huge difference in underhood temps for me and I bet it'll help you even more with track use. Don't worry about rust, it's a stainless steel header. I had my wrap on for over 3 years with no issues.

Stainless steel DOES rust. Not as quickly as normal steel but it does go eventually

Glad to hear you have figured out a potential solution to the burnout. I love seeing what you guys are doing with your cars and would rather see less of it, or less frequently, than none.

Really cool to hear about the sponsorships! Honed is an invaluable asset to have on your team. I’m sure you’ve talked with them enough but it’s important to follow their recommendations on spring rates and other car setup. The KTuned K2 coilovers don’t have the proper 2:1 f/r spring bias that the RCA’s are designed to have. I’m sure that can be addressed with them however. Keep it up!
@RefineMovement5 жыл бұрын
Honed gave me great recommendations for spring rates and I tried to get as close as I could to them when I order the Ktuned coils. I’ll go over it before the install

What’s the point in wrapping it ?
@jordanb21495 жыл бұрын
Reduce heat radiated from the headers keeping overall engine bay temps down, same reason why stock headers have the big heat shield to keep temps from melting or getting surrounding wires and radiator from heating up more than they should
@carlosrsd7342 жыл бұрын
Instead of those ugly zip ties I used copper wire. The color blends in more with the wrap and is skinnier and smaller

these things will mess up your header they hold moisture against the metal for a minimum return. its not worth it unless you dont mind rusting a hole in your exhaust.
@95P745 жыл бұрын
Rust shouldn't be an issue since it's stainless steel. Using an infrared thermometer, the unwrapped header on my d16z6 was around 650-670°F when warmed up. After wrapping they stayed between 250-280°F. That's a huge difference, especially when it sits so close to the radiator and oil pan.
@charleywaynehinkle63585 жыл бұрын
@@95P74 but i weakens the the header due to excessive heat there is a reason they dont cover wraps under warranty no matter what matetial it destroys them. if they worked nascar would still use them but it destroyed the headers and wasnt worth the rewards.
@95P745 жыл бұрын
@@charleywaynehinkle6358 It's a stainless steel header off ebay for a d-series. They're $40-$50 tops, I'm pretty sure he'll get his moneys worth out of them. I had mine wrapped for 3 years and it was still fine when I sold it 3 years later. A Civic header isn't going to see anywhere near the heat and abuse a nascar set would, they're going 200mph for hours at a time lol.
