Hey Kevin I've actually done both vinyl and carbon fiber and I've learned that the key to making it actually look like a creaseless seamless paint job is to do it in sections top half from the trunk to the hood then the front and rear bumpers would be done separately and then the sides would be done separately and my experience I had good results every time no creases and the heat gun made it look great after a while I began combining that process with the hydro dip mixing paint jobs with vinyls and paint jobs with carbon fiber
@crazycal86696 жыл бұрын
hydro dip it! it is easer cheaper? cool patterns all you need is a big bucket and water! plus that kind of video gets a lot of views!

If you mask the outer and dip the inside on a clear shell it would be good.
But will Hydro bond to these unbreakable shells is the question. I have heard they cannot be painted.
@williammorris58466 жыл бұрын
Good try, you did a lot better than i would have. Here's a thought for you, build a box frame and attach the vinyl than heat it up and press the body down into it.

It’s doable but you need to do it in sections That’s how they do real cars
@gimble86386 жыл бұрын
exactly :)
@thegoldengamer58646 жыл бұрын
Cars have separate panels, thats why they can do it in sections, you cant do it in sections on a one peice body

well im sorry but ive wrapped a van and still on big section of rear say, its more than one piece of wrap on same panel ;)

great first go, you didn't fail.. you just found one way of not doing it :) .. it is totally possible to wrap that in one go.. as others have said.. definitely need high quality wrap, and more practice.. watch vids of the pros wrapping car mirrors.. pre-stretch, then form.. , and as others said.. you can also try hydro dipping, very doable in a home shop.. also with some practice and watching some vids to get the general idea :)

You got guts lol as someone who does vehicle wraps for a living for the last six years and I wouldn't want to wrap my RC body lol, they are too flimsy and you can't pull the vinyl like you want not to mention the key to wrapping is heat like a torch or heat gun and I'm sure the lexan or whatever the bodies are made out of will melt.

@Slikx6665 жыл бұрын
If you were going to be putting a different colour on the windows and bed then I'd say it could be done. First work out where the panels join on the real car and that's where you have your edges. Secondly do the back (starting right behind the cab) and work your way back, you're going to have to make some cuts on the corners, so have the edges end up where the tailgate sides are. The front is just about the same but you're starting on the back of the cab and working forward. If you are putting on the decals after then you can use them to cover the joins. Don't forget that when they wrap a real car they make lots of cuts, thy just know how to hide them.

You can measure one hole and then zeroing it, then measure both holes and you have the middle bang on :) Of course if both holes are same size.
@YFindustries3 жыл бұрын
Can do in one peice with quality film. They do alot of complex stuff. Quality film can stretch so much if it's what your after def worth the few extra bucks for good vinyl. I do wrap and custom paint. Honestly just paint it with the same hobby paint. Just paint the outside then use a premium plastic clear coat. Shouldn't flake off but worth a shot. And if scratch up the clear coat hit with sand paper n shoot more clear.... just idea
