There's so much pressure to finish the year strong. Personally, I'm ready to move on to the chocolate and cheese already!

Oh yeah I feel that on a deep level! Bring on the chocolate (thankfully my advent calendar is one with chocolate every day so I’ve already started!)

Great advice as always. I am starting to look back this month, and I managed 10 novel chapters and a short story (almost done). For a year where I’m trying to come back from deep grief, I did more than I thought I could do. I didn’t read as many books as I did in 2023, but I’m slowly correcting that by improving my routines this month. Your videos and blog and everything you’ve shared have helped me to work on better organization for my writer self and for my personal life. Thank you. 💜🫂

I never thought of changing the timing of my yearly goals but I think I might adopt something like the education fiscal year. Starting on July 1 and ending on June 30. I think it would align better with the ebb and flow of my families needs and the pressures put on me to meet them.

Yeah that’s a really good idea! And it doesn’t have to be the calendar year, but what works for you. Like mine is November 1st to October 31st for writing life, and while I do yearly goals and such, the majority of my focus is on getting things done through my writing year. I think it’s great to tie it to the educational year for you guys, and then you can work with it as much as you’re able.

@@JoeyPaulOnline Yeah since I still have two teenagers in high school my life tends to revolve around the school year. So it does make more sense that my writing goals would as well. They graduate in two years then I can reevaluate

I've always written my novel longhand ss i prefer my proccess that way, but im thinking of using a computer from now on. Im not sure, i would have to use dictation software, but that's doable. Mostly im terrified, I'll lose the work. How do you manage your strength, Joey? Xx

I did dictation for a bit and it didn't work for me, but I make sure to back up anything in several different places. Like right now it's computer, Dropbox, ipad, and cloud and that soothes the fear of losing work! As for strength, it's a lot of back and forth. I've spent so long learning how I personally work that now I know what I can manage most days and trying to keep a healthy balance of work and rest. It's taken me literal decades tho to get where I am now The last five years have really been me finding that sweet spot and it really shows for me working wise! I did use to handwrite everything writimg but my conditions soon put a stop to that, so I switched to typing, and then for a time like I said dictation but typing works better for me!
