It's really amazing how you managed to bring that squeezed and twisted fender back into shape. Never saw this before and would not know of anybody who could pull that off like you did, real work of art. It's a pleasure to watch your videos. Looking forward to see the car on the road with you behind the wheel. Great work!

You're really lucky to have found all these, what appear to be, California cars. 10 years ago, I had a 66 Olds 442 that was originally a Cal. car that had made it to Florida before coming up to the Carolinas where I bought it, and it was exceptionally clean and rust free.

And I know you´ll even get that left eyeball straightened out before you hit the road...well done! Archimedes would be proud of you, counterweighting the force against the inside of the fender by strapping the front suspension to that beam...keep up the good work. Can't argue with the results...Never seen channel locks and claw hammer with blocks of wood. I just bought a fiat from decades in the wrecking yard..all four fenders are like this. I think I can but won't use the same hammer. Does the heat gun really help. I subscribed!
@Jerod_Helt4 жыл бұрын
Thanks buddy. The heat gun helps prevent the paint from coming off. Probably doesn’t make much difference when it comes to the metal bending easier.

Fantastic progress and what wonders you worked on that fender! Hard to tell when the video is accelerated but are some of the taps just to soften up the metal vs actually push it into a different shape? It seemed very gentle at times to force anything.

Late to your channel and am hooked. Found you from a collaboration with SuperFastMatt and your Honda. What was the accident that caused this? It looks like something heavy fell on the roof, then off over the LF wing? From the underside pictures, the suspension and wheels look straight. Missing lug nuts…funny. I have worked on 914s and 911s, but never 356s. Interesting they went to bolts after this.
@Jerod_Helt Жыл бұрын
Glad to have you! The 356 was definitely upside down at one point but I’m not sure how it happened, I bought it wrecked. I’m hoping someday the previous owner will see my videos and tell me why happened to it.

I had an idea. Why not remove the roof and fender and take to someone with an english wheel to finish smoothing out the dents. Then weld back on.
@Jerod_Helt4 жыл бұрын
I actually bought a small English wheel and tried to use it by hand on the roof. My fear is that it would remove the paint in the process. If I remove the top and fender I will replace them with new straight panels. But then I would need to repaint the car.

There is nothing wrong with a little Bondo carefully applied minimally over hammered out dents. You don't need new body parts, these can be fixed!! You CAN do it, or get a little help.
