Wrestling Defense: Down Block

When your opponent shoots in during a wrestling match, it is crucial to have the skills to fend off their attack. The down block is a defensive technique that allows you to guard against lower-body attacks.
To successfully perform the down block, you will need your lead leg to go backward to avoid your opponent’s hands. You lead arm will then replace your leg to block your opponent’s forward momentum. Finish the down block by lowering your head to aid in stopping your opponent’s shot.
