You know... with hindsight being 2020... If the WWF & WCW knew Vince was going to end up buying WCW; just imagine what kind of angles we could've had if they never closed those shutters. Of course Vince wouldn't want to see his guys lose because that'd result in wrestling fans viewing WCW as superior but this could've been something that laid the groundwork for the "WCW Invasion" in 2001. Granted this is all fantasy booking & definitely would've never seen the time of day but there were so many possibilities here. With the success of the DX Invasion, I'm SHOCKED Vince didn't book something similar for the WCW/ECW invasion in 2001. I guess it's just something that will live on in our minds in an array of "what ifs" from yesteryear.

Yeah Vince's pride would have got in the way and would have prevented WWF from looking weaker than WCW. If wcw invaded the week later after DX invaded,Vince would have let them in then and he would've won the Monday night war right there. His logic was "what show would you watch? The one everyone on it or the one with nobody on it?"

Unless the DX guys started calling out specific WCW talent or trying to make them look weak/stupid on TV, you're spot on with your take on what would've happened (or not happened I suppose) if they opened the doors and let them in. It's not like Bischoff was a Paul Heyman type figure that had this group of guys that were fiercely loyal to him - hell, from what I've seen in interviews and documentaries, etc., a lot of guys didn't even like Bischoff all that much. He was useful for getting them those fat guaranteed contracts, but not exactly the type of guy you're going to go to war for.

I remember watching this, I was so hyped as I thought this was going to be the start of a WWF vs WCW series with matches taking place, leading up to a PPV. I wish that both Vince, and Bischoff could have put their egos aside. There was room for two Wrestling shows, both got tons of views when doing great. And yes I can see the jeep on the ramp being a spur of the moment thing. As it looks like Triple H is getting more control of this thing as time went on, doing what he wanted, and with X-Pac co-leading this. I think Bruce was just along for the ride by that time. Triple H I think knew that if they went in, Vince would be mad at them yes, but would not fire them. As Vince would never chance them all being hired by Bischoff. As Bischoff would so higher them, even Pac, as this is what Bischoff likes controversy that gets people talking. This got a lot talking,

I dare anyone to disagree with me that 1998 was the best year for WCW & WWF starting with WrestleMania 14 and ending all the way to SummerSlam & maybe Starcade.
@GoGetYourShinebox3 жыл бұрын
WCW prob peaked in 97 in the events leading up to Starrcade. That was the year WWF & WCW were closer in ratings. In 1998 the WWF took over

@@GoGetYourShinebox I got to say even though when wcw had some good spots, overall in 1997 professional wrestling it was kind of oddly depressing.
