"Cause Stone Cold Said So" was a video tape released by the WWF in 1997. The presentation, hosted and narrated by Steve Austin, chronicles Austin's rise in popularity through 1996 and 1997. When answering the question of "what does Austin 3:16 mean?" Steve takes viewers through a journey from the 1996 King of the Ring all the way to the 1997 edition of the same pay per view, and inbetween match highlights Austin shares his thoughts on Bret Hart, ECW, Hollywood Hulk Hogan and Shawn Michaels.
The success of "Cause Stone Cold Said So" would lead WWF to release a follow-up; "Austin 3:16 Uncensored". This presentation featured a Steve Austin interview by Jim Ross and a look at Austin's journey to the WWF Championship at WrestleMania XIV.
This video covers both VHS releases.

I loved these compilation videos. I think it’s important for young-ins to realize that we rarely got to see things again unless we taped it live. So getting a tape like this with all the greatest moments was priceless! I remember going to Saturday Matinee Video and seeing new VHS on the stand. I miss those days when we didn’t know what was coming out 6months or more in advance.

Wow I remember we'd go to the video rental store once a week to pick out a movie and I'd always pick out whatever the latest video was on offer. As a 10 year old kid I got sooo excited for this. It was a different time where everything wasn't available right away you had to wait and that made it all the more special... plus the wrestling was still kinda special and everyone didn't know everything about everyone. We just enjoyed it without over thinking it.

I too became a fan seeing him in WCW. He just had this weird intensity and he could have been elevated at any point, had management put him with a top guy, who didn't mind teaching. I think both Shawn and Bret did their bit to calm Steve a little. In his earlier days he could have a tendenct rush himself.

Before you even said anything about Austin/Pillman i said to myself..."oh this isnt the VHS version its a re release on DVD?? Im willing to bet they cut out alot of the Pillmans got a gun segment" and waddaya know.... Im a collector/hoarder so i have all of my VHS tapes from my tape trading days from 99 to 04 as well as ALOT of shows on DVD/VCD from the early days of the online wrestling piracy scene...I might go thru some of it and upload "Lost and Found" WWF/WCW/ECW/TNA/ECWA/FMW/JAPW/MLW/ROH media from 92 to 2005. I MAY have some early CZW stuff but i doubt it cause I never got into the death match or gore hardcore wrestling like CZW, XPW and I can't pretend Im a Japanese wrestling encyclopedia either. I think the fact that the commentary is in Japanese and I've been conditioned to watch my wrestling with commentary, it messes with my head and i can't enjoy it like normal. Keep doing the good work brother. Maybe 1 Sunday out of the month going forward, do an Attitude Era VHS review...WWF, WCW and ECW. Like the Kevin Nash tape WCW had in 1998...i think Goldberg might have had a tape. I DO know there were 4 tapes and Kevin Nash was the subject of one and theres a possibility that the nWo as a whole was the subject of another one. Keep putting out this fire material my man and the universe gonna put your next topic in your hand when you werent even looking for it or never thought it would pique your interest

I started watching wrestling from wrestlemania 3 onwards so when Austin became stone cold I was 17 at the time and I don’t care what anybody says THIS WAS DEFINITELY THE BEST TIME TO BE A FAN AND AUSTIN WAS DEFINITELY THE FACE OF THAT ERA! And when the man had to retire it definitely affected the business cause millions tuned out and haven’t been back since. I would just love to see a 1997 Steve Austin wrestle maybe a young buck? I can see 1 of the Jackson’s doing their flippy things off the ropes and land in front of Austin, then I can imagine Austin looking at him like WHAT THE F, flipping the middle finger at him and then stunning his A**! Then 1 2 3. IF ANYBODY THINKS ANYTHING ELSE THEN I CAN TELL YOU DIDNT GROW UP WATCHING DURING THE ATTITUDE ERA! Lol. And that’s the bottom line!

When he joined in late 1995, there were few plans for him, but he really got some lucky breaks. Because of the curtain call, he became King of the Ring. He worked with Bret Hart, because Hart went to bat and said 'I want him'. Then Bret was all set up to win the Royal Rumble but Vince Russo chose to tell that to the world. So they changed plans and Austin got the Rumble win too. Then they planned to have him work with Davey Boy Smith at Wrestlemania, but after Shawn lost his smile they switched it to Bret. Now don't get me wrong, I completely acknowledge Austin's own work and he deserved his success no question. I just find it fascinating how many opportunities he kinda stumbled into.

@@bryanmack4054 Didn't they run that on USA around the same time? It feels like they did, though I never saw it. Might explain the run time, and remember guys like Hogan, Savage, Hall, Nash and Diesel were heavily involved in the event up through 95 and Hart was there through 96 before Montreal, so it'd make sense they'd try to gloss over many of those prior to 97, as much as they could get away with anyway.

The Saturday morning Livewire recap show replaced WWF Mania once the US phone-in show version ended. Also, I don't think the ECW stuff was on the original VHS, just the DVD release.
