Well known today as a yoga and fitness guru and a literal life saver, Diamond Dallas Page's career in wrestling was far from standard. DDP got into the game at a later age yet still managed to become a stand out star in WCW. During Page's fourteen year pro wrestling career, he became a fan favourite while also becoming a three-time WCW world champion, while having great matches with the likes of Macho Man Randy Savage, Raven and Bill Goldberg.
In this mini documentary from Wrestling Bios, we look into DDP's early life and his decision to become a professional wrestler. We look at his time in the AWA, Dusty Rhodes getting him a break in WCW, his Diamond Exchange and Diamond Mine factions, his time managing The Fabulous Freebirds, his success in 1996 and 1997 when he declined an invitation to join the nWo, his work with celebrities Karl Malone and Jay Leno, and much more.

It's not that WWF/E dropped the ball, it's was the booking of ex WCW talent. Yeah some of them were in title matches and some of them even won a title and held it, but usually, those reigns were short and were opportunities to bury some of the talent. Chris Jericho being a prime example of that. Benoit was probably one of the select few former WCW wrestlers that they booked somewhat properly.

from everything I've read/watched about Savage, despite his roots in the outlaw sphere, he was legit passionate about wrestling and had a good business mind for it. He wasn't like Hogan and knew he wouldnt carry the torch forever.

I didn’t start watching WCW until 94-95 so I wasn’t a hardcore fan but this guy was probably my favorite WCW wrestler. The feuds with Savage, Raven, Benoit and NWO were usually my favorite parts of any Nitro.

Always enjoyed his matches in WCW, especially once he got away from the silly "lottery winner" storyline. Once he got running in his feud with Randy Savage he was made. Look at their matches: DDP wins the first one clean, Savage wins the follow-up but needs assistance to do it. Couldn't put the guy over any stronger than that.

I remember DDP back in the AWA when he was a manager and then fast forward to WCW when he managed Scott Hall aka the Diamond Stud! I was amazed he was still around but then I stopped watching and then saw him tag with Kevin Nash at the time known as Vinny Vegas. I couldn’t believe he became a wrestler and I couldn’t stand him at first but then he started growing on me! I became a fan and now I consider him one of my favorites! He was truly blessed to be able to work with so many greats like Dusty Rhodes and Jake the Snake. DDP is GOAT 🐐!

Going back and watching old Nitro shows starting 95, you can tell DDP did what he could to make a match against anybody entertaining. His WCW character is one of my all time favorites. His movement was impressive, his promos were charismatic, he was an absolute People's Champion.
