I was still watching wrestling when Del Rio won but sadly I stopped watching wrestling pretty much for good a couple weeks before wrestlemania 27... happy to say my last REAL rivalry was Michaels vs Taker. Early PG era (June 2008- May 2010) was still good and had decent storylines because it still had that vibe from the Ruthless Aggression era that carried over with the main stars of the era. WWE kinda started going downhill after WM 26 IMO.

Amazing how the 2009 Slammy awards all started in one night these things called "Stories" Jerishow becoming Tag team of the year and Jericho dissing Edge really beginning their feud for WM 26. The name Bret Hart being mentioned to Vince McMahon starting that feud. HBK and Taker winning Match of the year only for Shawn to start believing he could do what he couldn't do earlier in the year starting his obsession. And during this Rumble we saw a bunch of the storylines start up with Legacy starting to crack and Batista and Cena going at it. So much was going on during this Show instead of just Matches.

I really loved the final four showdown because it pretty much set up 3 huge matches for Mania. HBK not winning was a bit disappointing but he and Undertaker didn't need the title for their match to be good, Cena eliminating Batista kicked off their storyline for the WWE Championship and of course Edge winning started his feud with Chris Jericho. I rewatch that whole sequence every once in a while because it was so masterfully done. Great storytelling

Yea the Ruthless Agression Era ended in the Summer of 08 but this pay-per-view - WM 26 was also the last time HBK, HHH, Taker, Batista, were regulars, Randy was the top heel on Raw, Edge the top Heel on Smackdown before his injury and several Ruthless Agression Era wrestlers last time to shine. Carlito, Cryme Time, MVP, Chavo, Masters, etc.

I was 19, graduated h.s. in the summer of 2009 and what a theme track officially titled "Hero" by Skillet at this point the landscape of wrestling has begun to change for even better or worse things. A new decade, veterans fro the Ruthless Aggression era slowly became hall of famers, the young talent slowly climbing the ranks for better potential and fan interaction what a time to be in the front row, mid mezzanine and up the rafters to root for your superstar. By this point, ECW had its final broadcast on SyFy a month later, in its place saw the debut of NXT - the pro/con show was a disaster but a few years later turned into its third brand of WWE developed by Triple H. Shoutout to you for this amazing trip down memory lane reliving it brought out nostalgia I'll never forget.
