I cycled a lot, hung out with my friends, listened to banging music on my 2GB MP3 player and met my future wife. Wrestling that year was simply magical. I was so happy for CM Punk. And just like you, I celebrated the end of Edge at the hands of Taker with my friends!

In Storyline, I love how Batista was angry at Shawn for "retiring" Ric Flair even though the two forgave each other and they were no hard feelings. For me, the Summer of 2016 in WWE was special. I was going into my Freshman Year of High School and the company decided to cook a 5 star meal during the Summer to lead me into High School. You had Seth Rollins returning to kick off Summer, the Dean Ambrose masterclass at MITB, The Brand Split was back and that was super exciting, the Shield Triple Threat at Battleground, NXT was hitting on another level, and of course, the legendary John Cena vs AJ Styles match at Summerslam. The Summer of 2016 was so special for me as a wrestling fan.

SummerSlam 2008 was the last time I was truly sports entertained with the company overall. Yes, the PG rating happened before SummerSlam 2008, but there was enough Ruthless Aggression vibes to give the era a fitting end. I mean, the Shawn Michaels/Chris Jericho feud hitting its highest point, Edge vs The Undertaker in HiaC, and Batista vs John Cena, the two biggest names on the RA era. SummerSlam 2008 is to the RA era what WrestleMania 17 was to the Attitude Era. After this, WWE would quickly begin it's dark age and it wouldn't be until pretty much WrestleMania 40 before the company finally returned to its former glory.

For me 2008-9 was truly a great year. I was 9 and I got into everything I like because of that year, wrestling, video games, rock music. It was a good year for those things and as a child I absorbed it all and still love it to this day. SVR 2009 was also my first wrestling video game so it's really special.

Kids these days just do not understand how awesome it was to be a wrestling fan as a kid in between 2004 and 2010. From Eddie Guerrero's addiction speech single handily changing my mom's opinion on wrestling (she wasn't sure about letting me watch it because of its reputation but she caught me watching it in her room right as Eddie started to respond to Lesnar) to the og One Night Stands/Bloodsport DVD completely desensitizing the neighborhood to blood to Jeff Hardy's 2008/2009 being truly iconic, it was special. Especially with amazing games and the magic of urban legends that couldn't be answered easily. I'd sell my soul to go back to my 9 year old self and relive watching Royal Rumble 2008 live with my cousins.
