Great episode. Most likely, the best example of the underlying tension between proper United Kingdom pessimism and American aggressive optimism. Wrexham is awesome and they kick ass! Embrace it. That’s why Ollie Palmer is beloved in America, he believes in the power of possibility!

Keep in mind, if I wanted to go see my local NFL team play, the cheapest tickets are going for $240, and the average is $450 a ticket. On top of that, NFL teams only get 8 guaranteed home games each season. It’s not normal to attend every game and the distance to the next closest team is a 5.5 hour car ride, so there isn’t really a concept like “Away Days” over here. So no, an extra £15 wouldn’t scare us in additional service fees. Especially not if I had to spend $800 to get over to Wales to view a game.

Agree on Parky. The "ceiling" chestnut that pops up now and then doesn't stand up well to close analysis. As you said, he will make the needed adjustments. It may take some time, but he and Steve are going to take the team to the PL. He has built a program and has owners who are not churners, switching out managers like tissues.

I was really surprised by the reaction to Ollie Palmer taking the pitch in Vancouver. Feels like those must have been fans of the show more than followers of the club. Ollie's performances of late have been incredibly sluggish and ineffectual. New guy Seb was on fire. McClain's work ethic is an example for the whole team. Love him being captain.

Something tells me that Rosie’s views of what the average person in Wrexham is like is slanted as a result of her job working as a part time corrections officer.

One possible advantage of the women playing the level of opposition is in their view of the level of Cardiff City and Swansea ... rather than having meeting the level of the two southern Welsh clubs as an ultimate goal, view it as a step on the way to the ultimate goal of competing in Europe.

Does anyone have information on how we can watch all the matches on TV in America this season?
@brianeleighton3 ай бұрын
Personally I think the Fan Zone is a brilliant move by the club. Everyone can see the club needs to increase revenues as we lost money again last season. That gives the club a choice. Keep things the way they are and get slammed by the EFL'S profit and sustainability rules in about a year's time or increase ticket prices. The club really doesn't want to raise prices for the locals because let's be honest, locals aren't the richest people in the world. The club found a brilliant compromise. Soak the tourists for overpriced tickets, food and drink in the Fan Zone and keep pricing for locals relatively reasonable. The tourists deserve to pay more and hopefully it will help the club generate a lot more revenue next season.

so tragic in Vancouver- not sure if the city of Vancouver was deaf and didn’t give a permit for a bigger footprint- but seeing the size of the fanzone in usa and what was available for arguably the biggest event of this year’s tour- that was a miss in Vancouver and echos the big miss of not having more stock available in North America. Wrexham could sell Millions of pounds in North America for a ridiculous sum

@@kentalbertawrex Agree totally, but that is part of the problem with our club currently. The back to back promotions have been amazing but have also somewhat hurt the club. We have no training ground of our own, we had to rebuild the Academy from nothing and we still haven't really broken ground on a new Kop Stand. All of those things are really starting to hurt the club badly, as evidenced by the Academy fiasco this offseason. Wrexham are in many ways becoming a global super club but are making do with National League infrastructure still.

@@kentalbertawrex - Agree! With all the space the vendors needed on each side of this closed 1 block long 2 lane street (sidewalks excluded) vs what a boulevard was needed with 4 lanes…it was a joke the minimal space left for walking around (without counting the space taken up with the waiting lines at certain spots. I called it “the narrowest mosh pit” feeling experienced. LOL. But what a thrill to see the lads live.

Fleetwood will be our starting 11. They’ll go 70. Expect Ollie and Marriot playing up front. Poor OP, just doesn’t have a the ball skills to dribble around folks. However, he’s got a nose for goal. Expect revan to play a critical role this season as well as Dobson. He and maca on the pitch = limbs flying, as well as yellow cards dropping. Fleetwood will be a 1-3 finish. Maybe 0-3. Haven’t follow d FTFC so don’t know their squad or form. No way we fight relegation. As parky mentioned, there’s enough goals on the pitch with Lee, maca, revan, McLean to win games. We hit the loan market for a striker. Which is fine.

As a regular mls viewer (sounders fan) I genuinely believe wrexham is better than at least half of the league's 1st teams. Quality of play here is disappointing.
@kentalbertawrex3 ай бұрын
still a good point- Wrexham was keen to speak that the White apa were in mid season form- what was ifnored was that @ mid season, the Whitecaps can’t afford to field a full squad for a friendly when they are in the mix for playoff.
@BruceMcFarling3 ай бұрын
@@kentalbertawrex I read that they gave short term contracts to six of their second team squad to fill out their players for the game. They play LAFC tomorrow (Tuesday the 30th) and Club Tijuana on Saturday in the Leagues Cup (joint cup for the MLS and Liga MC teams, with three CONCACAF Champion's Cup places on the line).

Skipped several weeks because… Summer and no-one needs podcasts over an hour. A few things to catch up on then. Jordan Davies - essentially done. Hasn’t done any real running since Keates left and the failure to do that will end his career with us and likely his EFL career. Lovely player but his position requires much more than he gives. Seems to think he needs a run etc. but he’s never going to get one until he stops strolling around like it’s pre match at Wembley and he’s having a look at the pitch. Seb Revan - saw a lot of Rotherham on the EFL show last season and he was 1 of 4 or 5 of their players who stood out BUT he’s quick thinking rather than quick. Impressed in preseason because… pre season for other teams too. Don’t be surprised if Mendy or McClean starts ahead of him or if he can’t hold down a place after the first few games. Isn’t going to beat as many players in L1 as preseason suggests. Strikers - would be surprised to see anything other than Dalby and Marriot start. Lots of people battering Palmer and he’s clearly not fit yet but at the end of last season it was his return which saw the uptick with Mullin and our last few results. So, writing him off is a tad naive I think. Similarly, lots of people battering Dalby pre season but he worked really well with Marriot and made him look far better than in his initial few games for us. Caws - I’ll keep saying it. Get rid. Young Andy knows what he’s doing and is clearly not an arse. Yet to see him look at his phone or pick his nose let alone do it for an hour. Kudos. Kits - need to have a serious look at who took those kit photos. Kits looked ill fitting and dull. I still think the gold kit is just a tossed off second rate Arsenal away but having seen the red kit on the players on the pitch it’s the most natural/traditional Wrexham kit for years and I could seriously love it. However, no mention of love for the new grey training gear with embossed badges? Having all of that when it comes out. League position - anything above 15th will do. Little point in getting g promotion when we’re not resourced to do anything but come straight back down. Think we’ll tickle the play offs for periods but may also flirt with bottom 4 at times too.

@@kentalbertawrex are we talking Andy or Andrew? Andy is deffo a nose picker and avid scratcher. Always looks like we only have 50% of his attention Andrew? Nah. As an avid nose picker I can’t be too critical here but you’d never catch me doing it on video. Struggle to see a reason to be positive about Caws. Not using your actual name is a bad start but his contributions to the podcast have been genuinely terrible. Not an original thought in his head. Largely just a nodding dog for Tim. His choices of content for his own videos have sometimes been excellent but his presentation is dreadful. Starts from the assumption we’re all “lads”; all like a drink pre match etc. Not inclusive and not funny. This isn’t the 1990s and Wrexham fans come in all shapes and sizes. The sort of person high on his own presence that lots of fans avoid at matches. One of my highlights of last season was watching him try to film vox pops outside the Macron; people telling him to eff off and he just tuned it out and acted as though he’d not heard them and they were all great and loved him.
