Michael Giacchino is taking a directing gig, Pattinson has other projects, Greg Fraiser as well and so on. If they want the same team/crew for Part II they need to align all those schedules which is not easy. So not having a script and going through the strikes messed everyone's agendas

It's something he inherited, and because Reeves has some clout, he has to go along with it. Same with Joker 2. One thing I don't understand with it all is... why wasn't the script finished before the strike? The film came out early March 2022. A sequel was in the works a month later. To take this into perspective, it usually takes 3 months for the first draft of a film to be written and a few months of rewrites after that for it to be totally complete and polished. It could've been done before the end of 2022. Gunn started writing the superman film in the summer of 2022 and had the script finished in like february-march 2023. The strikes aren't a valid enough reason for this delay. Every part of this film's production process has been slow as molasses and most announcements are just announcements of actors returning to reprise roles. The only real explanation is the few months of uncertainty of what was going on at DC at the end of 2022 with all of that Black Adam mess and Gunn taking over and maybe Reeves has been really really hands on with the production of the batman projects he's producing like The Penguin series, Batman Caped Crusader (which would be silly since it already has Bruce Timm and JJ Abrams) and the arkham series (which isn't even apart of Reeves universe anymore). Finish the script already! There's two writers working on it.

Bruce and Clark have always been similar in age if not the same age and funnily enough in their current iterations, they're both at the same point/time of their lives. Like I said, while this is not part of Gunn's plan, I hate to say it: I fear it is quite likely for other reasons altogether that it will be canceled in what is frankly an immense run-up. Not conspiracy. I like Gunn. I like his Superman decisions. I believe Gunn values Matt Reeves, who is a great filmmaker. However, many films are canceled in pre-production. People often move on. Film production can be like herding cats. I imagine assembling a team for a huge meeting. Matt Reeves may lose his lead actor. This is TRAGIC because THE BATMAN is the best Batman film ever made. Yeah, I do believe that. The most well-written. The best car. I wouldn’t be surprised if this gets delayed indefinitely. “The strikes” is allegedly the culprit here but I don’t buy it. Matt has been working on this script for two years now. Robert Pattinson is not shooting a movie right now and neither is most of the supporting cast. Matt Reeves was supposedly working on a whole Batverse but most of the projects have gotten shelved, and now his Arkham Asylum show will be in the DCU. James Gunn is forming his universe quickly and already announced a new version of Batman, complete with his own Robin and extended Batfamily. I think Matt Reeves feels blindsided by what’s happening and isn’t allowed to do a lot of the things he wants to do with Batman.

I feel Pattinson’s batman will be a part of DCU depending on the success of Superman movie. Considering how Gunn got superman and Lois show cancelled because he wants to avoid competition, there would be no 2 batmans at any cost. There is nothing wrong in that , why would you want to have 2batmans and divide fandom. Huge fan of else world movies but when you have a plan to build a successful unified cinematic universe these else world stories contribute nothing. It’s my opinion I feel Pattinson and David are a perfect match with each other they do look like canon superman and batman.

Even if it is Gunn’s decision to delay it you cannot blame him. We already have Jurassic park and few other movies releasing around the same time. Batman and Superman movies both belong to WB it’s better to give space to both the movies rather than having them around the same time.
