I literally can't deal with the smell of Subway sandwiches. They used to have one inside the entrance to a store I used to go to all the time in the last town I lived in, and every time I walked into the store the smell of all those weird sauces and meats and stuff always ruined my entire shopping trip and also part of my life.

A foreign exchange student that goes to my school told me she had never tasted ranch before. (I want to say she was either from Germany or Italy. We have two FES's and I get their homes mixed up.) Sugar in the food labeling is not just refined sugar (glucose), it includes all the other types of naturally occurring sugar in the food (e.x. chip) So that 21 grams of sugar might just be the chip that you're eating check the ingredients to see if sugar is listed as one of the first 3 ingredients. if it is, then you know it was actually added in.

When I lived in Japan, I often saw labels that listed fat, protein, and 'sugar', where sugar was the term used to mean carbohydrates. Most of the time the nutrition labels didn't distinguish between "carbs" and "sugar." Could that be why the sugar count is so high?

Yoghurt (요구르트/야쿠르트) is GENERALLY known as the sugary drink that comes in the cute small containers that Martina mentioned, and the Yoghurt westerners are more used to as the scooping deliciousness is more commonly called Yoplait (요플레) and the two are considered different things :D Yoghurt CAN be used for the scoopy yoghurts but more commonly it's for the drink :D

Doritos in Israel do not taste the same as Doritos in Canada. And a lot of the flavours are different. No ranch flavour... but there is cheese and it doesn't taste the same at all. They have half-and-half flavours though. Like half the chips are BBQ and the other half are something else.

My Cool Ranch Doritos had (yes, the bag is empty) 2 grams of sugar and 2 grams of dietary fiber for a 1.75 oz serving (appr. 49 or 50 g, for those metric types out there). So yeah. Your Doritos had more sugar than a half cup of homemade ice cream. As much as a serving of Ben&Jerry's candy bar flavor. Nasty...and not in a good way.

Your earrings are really interesting, Martina. I hate when the chip bag has more air than needed. One time we were at the store getting tortilla chips and there was a chip bag that had two clear lines on either side so you could see how many chips were in it and I swear there was like 1/4 chips and 3/4 air. Anyway, I don't think I'd really like either of those because I'm not sure I like sweet chips.
