I think most are missing the fact that when Latifi was in third he held up the majority of the field so Ocon and Vettel could create a sizable gap. For me, the performance from Max is gonna remain as one of the most important ones, which won't receive much limelight. That he was able to keep going with basically the whole right bargeboard missing, sidepod and floor damaged, thereby rendering downforce lower than a Haas was mighty impressive. Absolutely maximized everything and even with 5 stops, still finished in the points.

@@f4k3gamer You are free to believe any myth you want. And your response does show a bit of bitterness towards the Red Bull apparatus, which isn't unheard of lately from Merc sympathizers. Whatever it is, it doesn't change the fact that Max's car was more damaged than Ric and definitely had lesser downforce than even a Haas. It showed why while overtaking Mick, he went off-track once due to understeer. A simple Google search will bring up the front view of his car which clearly shows the majority of the bargeboard missing. No major repairs were possible since it would've required a change of chassis. Some bits were patched, and loose ones were taken out. So, if you still think he had a superior car, it's probably time to open your eyes a bit and to stop being salty.

The fuel rule, quite ironic I learned it from Matt from a video some years back. Teams basically ran the tank dry to avoid detected and the hidden tank was used to pump clean fuel in for the sample. Mid race, mechanics pumped in the illegal fuel secretly using all sorts of methods that we'd call unsafe considering a fire hazard. If you remember Austria, George with the pneumatic hose during his stop, that was one of the known methods teams used to cheat to pump in rocket fuel back in the days. Even Dan Tictum lost his Monza F2 win last season due to lack of a fuel sample.

I think its premature to suggest Ocon may not win again ever. Remember, Bottas will probably get dropped for George soon rather than later, then Lewis is probably only around another 2-3 years. Russell will need a partner and Ocon has those Mercedes ties. Yes he'd probably be the Bottas of that relationship in terms of quality, but he'd still win a few.

I think the only chance of that happening would be because of the Mercedes ties. Esteban isn't a bad driver, but in all honesty Mercedes will have much better options by the time Lewis retires. Lando or Pierre could be a better shot in in 2-3 years time.

Yep, people like to moan about how it's too hard to overtake at Hungary. Generally I would agree, but when a car actually does have the pace to pass, it's not as simple as breezing past on the straight. Hamilton would've been past Alonso very quickly on most other circuits, but instead we had an amazing extended battle!

Great pod folks. As no one on earth cares about this except me (and probably George), I'll point out that George's drive in that last stint was something really quite special. Firstly he had Danny Ric behind him, and kept him there, and then Max - albeit with a damaged car - and kept him there too, but also the rate at which he was catching his team mate. He took the gap from over 20 seconds to just over 1 second in about 10 laps; if the race had continued for even a couple more laps I think George would've taken the spot from his teammate. Simply by holding his track position in front of Danny, Max and Kimi he ensured the team got the points they were hunting - all in all, massive props to him

The one thing i will correct about this. When they were talking about Alonso's defending. Hamilton wasnt 4 seconds quicker than Alonso. He was 2 seconds faster. I don't get the fanaticism for Russell. Qualified 17th, circumstance put him in great position and still only moved backwards. Ultimately only finished ahead of a Haas, the Alfas (one with a 10 sec penalty), and two cars that had been through an almost literal demolition derby. I think they gave Latifi an A* too, because he found himself in P3 for a while? It is great for Williams to get the double points, but that was purely the red flag shuffle, nothing to do with driver performance as neither were particularly good. Certainly nowhere near as good as Alonso, Max, Lewis, Vettel, Ocon, Sainz, or probably even Gasly and Mick.

How are you rating Verstappen so low? Did you see what his car looked like after the race?; bargeboard GONE, floor damage, radiator, side pod puncture and more. An absolute miracle he was able to finish (and not spin or crash) with the little downforce and massive amount of under- and oversteer he had the entire race. The worst car with that damage and 5 pitstops he still managed to somehow finish in the points, absolute masterclass drive. Incredibly unlucky

People can say what they want about how much of a factor luck plays when things like an Ocon victory or Williams scoring double points happen, but it's one thing to be given an opportunity and another to be able to seize it. When crazy events happen there is no guarantee that you will get such a result. It still takes a solid driver to get the most out of it. Another fine example was Gasly at Monza last year.
