Wow! I'm from Kentucky and have been living in China for almost 4 years now. I just so happen to find this while searching for any connection between bluegrass and Chinese traditional music. I noticed the sounds were sometimes similar in the notes. The feelings I get after listening to this are indescribable. love it.

Got shivers at the 6:11 mark. This was an unexpected sound that for me, filled the room with something like Lewis’ deep magic as I listened. Not just a duet of two folk styles representing two nations historically at odds, but of two instruments: one prized aboard slave ships in hopes that the body and soul of those who heard it would remain together on the voyage, the other who's plucks and bends are entwined with a legend in which two musicians, fighting over a 25-string zither and breaking it in half, were left with a 12-string and 13-string part. Do I believe that this spirit of carrefour is going to grow going forward? Yes, not just in music but in every field as unseen, underground streams of humanity continue to find one another and, unwittingly, unintentionally subvert the white and blustering noise of politics.

Almost too lovely for words. The kind of music that "stirs the heart, inspires the imagination and brings eternal joy to the soul." (Words borrowed from a quote by Robert Wyland)

Pretty cool! I actually heard Frank Jenkins' version of "Roving Cowboy" first -- and it reminded me of Chinese music!
