Really missed EE and his enthusiastic commentary. That is something that the German Luftwaffe toothpaste tube still has a smell to it. A German soldier with fresh breath. The 1939 aluminum electrical connector cleaned up nicely. Good, the weather cooperated this time. You have another inkpot to add to your collection. Definitely a personal story behind those inkpots. I always wonder who used them last. Maybe a young Reinhardt sending a letter to his loved one/ones. Hmmm, a 38 or 34 cartridge knocked into a piece of wood?? Another story behind that discovery. Yes, why? Nice sounding prop airplane flying over during your historical discoveries. I bet there are many more artifacts to be discovered. Thank you so much for taking us there HH. Stay safe. 💕

The S.S. used wooden tipped bullets for training on each other (exercises). The Normandy landings happened coincidentally with one such major training exercise - whether this great find is related; would be interesting and a cool piece of the puzzle. Again, this is so cool 👍

That was a very interesting find you made with the rifle case stuck in a piece of wood. Must have been a German who was bored and hammered it into a tree. Then I thought that the piece of metal that had electric cables might have been screwed to the outer wall of a barrack.. maybe a lamp holder?

Could also have been a soldier who wanted to fire a shotgun, or some shotgun powered grenade, but no blank shells, so took the other round, and drilled a wooden slug to fit the shotgun and fire it. yes the other likely a cable entry for a building, likely a phone cable coming in, held down with the outer unit filled with compound, and then feeding through the wall to make it waterproof. German efficiency, make a clamp instead of simply drilling a hole, and using a screw and insulator loop to hold the cable fast.

Some nice finds from that area. Shame that other hill is being slowly eaten away, Who know what might be on there, but I guess that's "progress" for you. That cartridge inside the wood was a curious one. I guess "Hans" got bored one day, and just hammered the spent round into a piece of wood, for the hell of it. And decades later, our History Hunter just happens to find it. To add to another of those little mysteries from the past. Little things like that just help to remind us that these places were living, breathing, entities, not just the broken bricks, and cracked concrete, we see today. Looking forward to the next adventure! Cheers to you all!

Always interesting to see what you find no matter how small. The first piece of aluminum that was round looked like it had three or four holes drilled around the outside like maybe it was attached to something. Love watching you find the cartridges. The one encapsulated in wood is a mystery. Can’t imagine a soldier hammering that into a piece of wood. Seems the end of the cartridge would show some signs of being hammered in. So glad you went back to this area before it is gone.

Nice video HH. The item you found, shown at 8:15 reminds me of a side marker light. For my life, I can't remember what vehicle I saw it on. It could be an antenna mount, but most German vehicles used a flat deck mount style. It was a beautiful day for an explore. Take care and be safe.
