@jarek35795 жыл бұрын

Thing is, from what I've heard and seen, he's a really nice guy, on top of all that. There is a certain jealousy with people as good as Wynton. However, his talent is undeniable, and I don't think he deserves as much flack as he gets sometimes.

The most sensual trumpet player ever. He caresses it with his notes. Enough said.

Who gives a flying fuck if he is `nice`or not The man is intelligent ,articulate, interesting and plays like an angel! He is BOSS. Chet was a lying cheating thieving bastard,but that too is of no consequence as he also played beautifully ( even with false teeth) `nuff said.

search on youtube a version of "Embreaceable You"...I think it sounds a little bit different!!! p.s.I think the name of the tune is "Highrise Riff"...it is written at the beginning of the video!

s`wonderful, embraceable, but of course - listen to the entire group from the beginning plus you get those great Gershwin intervals from the very get-go!

Many people (including myself) look down on him because of his "selective knowledge" of Jazz history. He pretty much refuses to acknowledge any jazz that post-dates 1965. Other people say that there's no character in his playing. I feel, even if that were true, Wynton is still undeniably one of the most technically perfect trumpet players in the history of the instrument. The only proof anyone needs is his Moto Perpetuo Op. 11...
@bodegaboys747511 жыл бұрын
sometimes you just have to enjoy the music and ignore people up here. They just like to be controversial with their opinions. He has to know that Wynton isn't a average trumpet player.

@chetpoete What are you talking about? It IS Embraceable You.

@chetpoete Sorry...but you have no idea what you're talking about. The form of this song is obviously Embraceable You, even if he improvises with the melody. Highrise Riff is completely different sounding from this, check it out on his Citi Movement album. You'll notice on a lot of the videos from this concert that the song titles are incorrect.

The title of this song is "Highrise Riff", Wynton's own composition, as in the subtitle, not "Embraceable You". You have a great channel though. Congrats.

If you close your eye's it sound like Miles, anyone who thinks Mr. Marsalis is an average player is tone DEATH and don't forget all the work he does with children!!!
@Johnwilkinsonofficial2 жыл бұрын
ok 🤦♂️ 1 no wynton does not sound like miles 2 the phrase is tone _deaf_ ie cant distinguish tones, not TONE DEATH 3 someone working with children does not prevent them from being an average player, that is a non sequiter better luck next comment

Listen to Freddie Hubbard's version of Embraceable You. The beautiful and well written melody remains intact along with Freddie's creative additions. Marsalis missed the mark on this one.
@mmaybrown13 жыл бұрын
I don't like this interpretation. It's nice that he can improvise on the melody, but he should use some of what was already written in the original melody, along with his own improve. If there was no title written above the video, I would believe it was some other tune he was playing. Regardless he has a very nice tone.
@chetpoete13 жыл бұрын
Smooth sound, tasteful interpretation, but.....the tune is not "Embraceable You"...!!!
@mylists604010 жыл бұрын
as a ja trumpeter and critig i find this to be way too techical for this tune. wynton is not playing any melody at all. relating to th melody which is ad. through tht ecomplete tune. I can only hear this tune at the last cou[ple of bars

+Ronnie's Lists I agree completely, Ronnie. Makes no sense and really destroys a beautiful tune.

+Ronnie's ListsYou are losted for Music Ronnie .....as Roy .Wynton is in the way of James Moody about Ithe song I'm in the mood for love .....when he plays Moody's Mood in a "re-lecture" .You pretentious "americans" don't master your own culture better than foregners who admire and recognise the Afro- American Jazz fantastic contribution and far brilliant creativity.....and not only for Music .

He is an average player - always imitating the past great like Clifford Brown. Wynton is not even close if you know the music of Brownie.
